A friend gave me this:
3 crushed cloves garlic
2 chopped rashers bacon
1 medium onion
Fry in a little oil until onion soft
Add 1 lb minced lamb or beef, brown, then add
3 Tsp balsamic vinegar or sherry
6 Tsp red lentils
6 Tsp water
1 tin chopped tomatoes
Cook for 20 minutes
I also added a tin of baked beans and grated cheese on top.
I'll bet this would taste good made with chicken or chick peas for the vegetarians.
This made over 10 portions for me . I've eaten them all this week!

Use UK, not USA quantities.
1.25 cups Almond Flour
two thirds cup Canderel granular sweetener
tsp baking powder
tsp cinnamon
pinch salt
2 eating apples, no peel or core, chopped small (or 2 small bananas or half cup cherries or apricots etc).
half cup vanilla yogurt
2 large eggs
Mix ingredients. Use non-stick greased 8 inch tin. Pre heated oven, 180C for about 25 minutes
I've used cups instead of weights as the US sites and books that I've looked at for inspiration have all used cups. The US cup is smaller than ours, as, incidently is the US gallon. The next time I make thisI'll weigh the ingredients, if anyone is interested. You can use ground almonds if you can't find almond flour, and it's lower in carbohydrate and higher in protein than flour. The baking powder gives a slight rise. The cake with apples has a dry, crumbly texture, perfect with custard!

I do a very similar one except I use Ritz crackers - Ryvita would be healthier!! I serve it with mash and onion sauce (with thick chopped not fine chopped onions). Never tried carrot in it, but i do put in a fine chopped green pepper. I also put a bit of tomato ketchup on top for the last 1/2 hour and let it go sticky and caramelised on top.
And if all the excess fat is drained off (an horrendous amount comes out!), not too bad for us!
I am actually making one tomorrow and am planning to add carrot now I have seen this!
