excellent news about wls and the nhs

Not that anyone seems to come here any more - but in case they do!

I had my band put in privately as I had no co-morbidities and so the nhs wouldn't pay. But I have now been taken on by the nhs as I count as having a pre-existing condition ( the band) and so my annual check ups and any fills I might need are done by the nhs. My surgeon told me this would be the case - I am pleased to find he was right!

Highest 290, Banded - 248   Lowest 139 (too thin!). Comfort zone 155-165.

Happily banded since May 2006.  Regain of 28lbs 2013-14.  ALL GONE!

But some has returned! Up to 175, argh! Off we go again,

Thats fabulous Kate, I'm amazed they are willing to do that, they seem to want to keep away as much as they can - you must be chuffed.

I self funded, and am dreading any future treatment needed - not sure how much there is with an RNY - still guess I'll find out soon enough

Hi, Amy,  probably varies as usual - theUK postcode health lottery!

How are things going with you? I see you are just post-op. Hope you are feeling strong and over the op!

Now THAT is some seriously excellent news!!!! What a grand step in the right direction of REALLY being proactive and helping us all stay healthy!!

BTW-I am fixing to start a new thread and send a mass email to the folks signed up to this board. I know it's time to fire it back up.

Hugs,
T

That's fantastic news.  You are so right about the postcode lottery.  I'm in the North-East where getting the band seems to be easier than getting a fill once you have it, but I'm not complaining as I'm thankful evey day that I've had it done.

I have a friend in Northern Ireland who had been approved but now they have no one to do it as there is no weight loss surgery taking place there, but if you already had an op they can do follow up
