Oh wonderful and beautiful ladies of the UK OH board-I beg of you..I NEED HELP! LOL!

I must admit that since I have moved to the UK (Since last January!)-I've  not been clothing shopping. Well-the last couple of weeks I decided to start looking around.

I would like to find some nice jeans. My problem? Um-SO many of the jeans are in that narrow legged low rise style! LOL! Now-first of all..I have ALWAYS had a rather..um..generous backside and hips. I also have a very small waist. This makes those types of jeans look CRAZY on me-and that is if I can get them pulled up past the excess skin right above my KNEES!! LOL!

I need to know where you ladies shop and what size I should be looking for. I know it will be a larger size than I wear in US sizes (which is an 8-10).

So-can you help a girl out? Where do you purchase your clothing and jeans?? Do you know where I can find a higher rise these days?>? LOL!

Thanks VERY much in advace!!

Peace,
T

Ok I looked at size conversion charts, and a US 8-10 is a Uk 10-12 I think!! I mostly buy my jeans from Dorothy Perkins as I find the fit is much better than other shops. New Loo****assionally have some good jeans, but their fit is a bit hit and miss!! Next do excellent jeans, they are more expensive than the other shops I mentioned, but the quality is better and they have a variety of fits! The best thing to do for you though is get out and explore the wonderful shops!! Everyone is different, and we have some good clothes shops for women in the UK now, I'm sure you'll find what you need!!

These are the websites for the shops I mentioned:

Dorothy Perkins- www.dorothyperkins.co.uk
New Look- www.newlook.co.uk
Next- www.next.co.uk

Oh also check to see if there is a GAP near you, I LOVE Gap jeans!! But there isn't a shop too close to me

Hope this information helps!

Good old Marks and Spencers for me! Boring but they fit me. And lots of higher waisted ones. You can also get the Not Your Daughter's Jeans in the UK now (did you get them while you were still in the US?). Google for your nearest stockist.

Kate

Highest 290, Banded - 248   Lowest 139 (too thin!). Comfort zone 155-165.

Happily banded since May 2006.  Regain of 28lbs 2013-14.  ALL GONE!

But some has returned! Up to 175, argh! Off we go again,

Hi Gorgeous!

It's funny-I have been shopping since this post. Guess where I ended up finding clothes? YES! Marks and Spencers! LOL! I don't think it's boring. They have good classics and a few fun to mix and match. I think that is my favorite way to dress. I prefer to keep the basics and have a few fun things to add in.

Also-their clothing sizes seemed nice and consistent. I find with other places-the sizes vary wildly!!

I have now heard a few of you ladies mention the Not Your Daughter's Jeans. I never heard of them until I got here!

Now-I did find some lovely Levi jeans in the US-they had that tummy control thing-and just enough stretch (just barely-but nice!). I would still like to find some nice jeans. I will check those out.

Hope you are well. Ben has come down with Bronchitis! Boo! :(

There is just NO WAY I would pay 120 for jeans! LOL! Either I am too old, or not hip enough-or just plain SMART! LOL!

I will be heading back to M&S sometime soon to try on some jeans. :)

So far Ben is trying to keep a quiet winter on the gig scene, but I am working on editing a bunch of footage from his gig in Wales. As soon as I do I will send you the You Tube link to the songs.

Thanks for the welcome!! Very much appreciated. We must do coffee again!

Hugs,
T

M and S are actually really good for lots of things! not just undies! If youa re ever in London, go tot he one at the Marlbe Arch end of Oxford Street, jsut near Selfridges. Enormous! ANd you get things they don't sell in other stores.

And no, I don't spend £120 on jeans either!
