What do you do to break a plateau?

My weight had sort of stabalised this week - yesterday I went on a mini hill walk and the scales finally moved this morning!!! Down 2 lbs...

What activity do you do to break a plateau?

Turning 30 and I've decided to grab life by the short and curlys!!

I am glad you posted about this. What you shared is exactly what I suggest. Do something-ANYTHING, that you had not previously done as far as exercise. If you gave it ten mins-give it five more.

If you had too many carbs-step it back a bit. I say shake up your schedule. I REALLY believe our bodes can basically go into SHOCK and just sort of sit there dazed! LOL!

Congrats on your Un-stuck!!

Peace,

I have no single activity to break a stall, I just mix up what I did last week if it didnt work, so more hills, less cals, diffrent sleep patterns, more sprinting, bon training etc etc, It all works but if you do it week after week it will stall so just keep mixin it up

To be honest - nothing! I found the way of life that I could live with and lose weight. When I went for weeks with no loss, I just put up with it. The scales always start moving again in the end - they have to! If we use more than we eat - fat must get burned off. Fast loss is good for the motivation but it really doesn't matter! It took years to get big in the first place and taking a month or so longer to lose it is such a small part of my life (even at my age!).

All my previous pre-band diets, I dieted! I obsessed about calories and pounds lost or not lost.  Doesn't work for me! I can't spend my life thinking of calories and food. When I did it that way, I lost but always regained (plus some more for luck!).

So I set out to discover what I could live with, what changes I could make that I could continue for the rest of my life. Having done that, I stick to it.

So no panics then if I didn't lose. No panics if now   ( I am maintaining below goal) I gain a few pounds. They always come off!

After three years and 4 months of being banded, i am fairly confident that I really have come to terms with my new life. I don't diet! I am relaxed about my eating and my lifestyle,

Highest 290, Banded - 248   Lowest 139 (too thin!). Comfort zone 155-165.

Happily banded since May 2006.  Regain of 28lbs 2013-14.  ALL GONE!

But some has returned! Up to 175, argh! Off we go again,

thank you - I'm still at the scales daily- but my attitude to the reading is so different than it used to be - my weight is all over the place.  But with my fitness instructor we are going to start using fat percentage as a measure...  :D weight is not the focus any more - I want to see that I am burning fat not wasting muscle... :D

My dietician prefers to use the fat : lean muscle tissue ratio than to use BMI as a measure of success.

I started out exactly the reverse of what I should be at 75% fat! Now I am just 30% fat. Should be a little bit less but at my age and for my low level of exercise, I'm happy with that!
