Hiya -
My name is Trish, and I had RNY 1 year ago. I have lost 118 lbs, and am wearing a uk size 14. I live about an hour from London. Delighted with weight loss, and improved health issues. Enjoying my food, I am able to tolerate all food types. My confidence and willingness to take on challenges has increased, and |I am generally ecstatic with outcome, and process so far...

Hello every one - my name is Amanda Binggeli - I live in Aberdeen I'm on OH because I had Lap-band surgery on the 1st of september 2009. So far I love the boards...
I turned 30 this year, and decided it was high time I got my life in order - all my friends had moved away/gotten married/had babies, and there I was still single, same flat (same heating problems, same broken shower, same broken kitchen), same job, same weight problem, same car, same glasses..... I had finished my Masters, and now I was out of education again it was time to do something else with my time. I had been planning another degree until I realised what I need to do was change my life.
I can resume the thirst for knowledge later - as now what I'd really like is to meet some one and setlle down with real children - as apposed to hoarding a million cats (I have 3 residents and 1 I need to re-home)...
My greatest stuggle is I guess.... The lack of restriction - I've not had a fill yet... But this is not really a problem yet - with some self control I am sticking to the diet like I did on pre band diets... Except this is the longest I have gone without crisps, chocolate or pizza since I started at the age of 2 probably...
I am still at the cheese though - but tiny amounts with my tiny meals - and its all good!
My hobbies are largely sitting in front of the tv, surfing the web, puzzles, DS, playing scrabble, going to the cinema, going to see friends, they all live miles away so I drive - does any one see the pattern? I like to do any thing that invloves sitting down.... But jus****ch that all change! I have an appointment with a fitness instructor.... I am going to pay someone to kick my bum into gear!
Thanks for listening! xxx

Hello Amanda and WELCOME!!!
Well-may I say that you have a great attitude. This is a HUGE change to undergo and it takes MUCH work indeed.
Have you met Kate "Katespost" yet? She is OH's star LapBand success lady. She has GREAT information and does post on this board as well. I just wanted to recommend you checking out some of her posts as well.
I TOTALLY understand about the not being very physical. I started out that way-I mean-I REALLY didn't like to move at all. Little by little I have extended my movements. I LOVE that you are going to be seeing a fitness instructor. Please let me know how that goes and what you think-as I am sort of considering that myself!! I am very curious to know what you think of it.
Please come by anytime and share. We would LOVE to hear more from you.
Welcome again!

Just joined here & thought I would jump in with a bit about myself ...
In what area do you live? I live in Sudbury, Suffolk, East Anglia, UK!!! Just moved here about 6 weeks ago - was originally about 20 miles away in Ipswich (feels like the other side of the country at the moment though! )
What brought you to OH? I had an RNY Bypass a year ago & you can never share/get too much information - there should be more of it about!
Where are you in the process of Weight Loss Surgery? A year on from my bypass I have lost 7stone (to us Brits!!) or 98lbs - not quite the 100 yet!! It ain't brilliant but it's fine by me - I am soooo much healthier that it isn't the end of the world if I didn't lose any more (but that doesn't stop me trying )
What are your areas of greatest struggle currently? Having said the above - I haven't lost anything since February until the past couple of weeks when I have lost 7lbs due to a stomach bug!!
What are your hobbies? I LOVE Michael Ball!! Other than that .. er, not much! Ebay is a hobby I guess too! Also, I run a Weight Loss Surgery Support Group which I set up myself last year!
What would be helpful for you here on this UK site as far as support goes? Hey, it's just great to know there's someone/something out there - cos the medical profession certainly doesn't help!!
Anything else you would like to share about your self to help us get to know you better? I am an open book - anyone wants to know anything, please feel free to ask away! Would be great to have some input to my Support Group website (unsure if I am allowed to post addy here - but it IS in cyberspace! )
Great to be here & I look forward to taking part & joining is stuff!
Come on guys, get posting!!

Well, let me tell you-I LOVE a gabber!! I can really appreciate that. :)
I just went to check out Michael Ball's website and I see that I COULD Easily become a fan!! I need someone to take me by the hand and educate me in all things FAB and Wonderful over here in the UK.
I LOVE music and musicals and broadway too! Maybe we are kindreds??
I am SO glad to have you here and you sound like you are doing VERY well! All of this takes time and there is NO proof that losing weight super fast is some how better than an even step by step process. Stalls can last a long time and then POOF-you are moving again. Our bodies have amazing ways to protect us. Poor bodies-surely try and serve us well.
SO sorry to hear you have had a tummy bug too!! Awful indeed! Hope you will be feeling better soon.
THANKS for your post and WELCOME!!
Peace,
T

Hi everyone!
I am Jo, 42, from Leicestershire, living in Missouri, US! I wanted to join in with you all as I am having the RNY at the end of December and I miss England still so very much even after 12 years!! I do not get back to visit as often as I'd like to!
My DH is from San Francisco, was in the US Air Force (when he picked me up!!) stationed in Northants in 1993. We have 3 children. Laura, 23 (from pervious marriage), who is living in Leics. right now, Christopher (14) and Liz (11).
After leaving the UK we moved to Japan for 4 years, then Anchorage Alaska for 4 years then he retired from the AF and we moved here to work for Boeing.
I am lucky to be one of the fortunate ones in the US to have good medical insurance so I opted to get my surgery as I have been overweight since my 20's. My dr is one of the pioneers in this lap rny so I am in good hands but still a little nervous!
I blog on OH when I do anything WLS related so you are more than welcome to drop by my blog on my profile! :)
Nothing else to say except thanks to Therese for noticing my signature and sending me a message to introduce herself! She is probably going through what I went through a few years ago...big time culture shock! I had a hard time when I moved away from England and was very depressed plus I got pregnant with my youngest girl immediately and my hormones really went whacky!!
Anyway less of me now that I have gone on a lot! Nice to meet you all!
xx
