How many, if any, are NHS?
I'm not!! But I hear that more people are getting this done on the NHS.
By the way, if you did pay yourself, did you know that if we need anything doing (complications etc, not basic lapband fills), the NHS will do it as it is now an existing condition!
So I get my annual barium swallow check done on the NHS. They send a copy to my GP and he sends it on to my (private) band surgeon! But if anything were to come up as a problem, my band surgeon says he would do it for me on the NHS!!

Highest 290, Banded - 248 Lowest 139 (too thin!). Comfort zone 155-165.
Happily banded since May 2006. Regain of 28lbs 2013-14. ALL GONE!
But some has returned! Up to 175, argh! Off we go again,
I went private - went to Brugge, Belgium. Tried on NHS, but got told at 19st with bmi of 42 I wasn't large enough to qualify, even though I had a ton of co-morbidities. Sigh.
It totally frustrates me as I have saved the NHS thousands of pounds by getting this done - I no longer have any weight related health issues that the NHS were paying for and with all the prescriptions I was on too.
I think it is very short sighted for it not to be considered on NHS for more people.

Ruth, remember to use the NHS for any follow ups! I have just had my annual barium swallow (advised for lapbanders who are maintaining weight loss) on the NHS!
