Hi! My name is Kierstyn and I created this group! I'm hoping to get some new members so we can all discuss our upcoming or recent surgeries and go through this process together, give each other encouragement and share our experiences. So if you are a new member to the group, go ahead and share your story and your journey so far!!!

Hi Kierstyn!  My name is Tonya and I had gastric bypass on June 21st.  I have just returned to work and am starting to try and balance work with my new life style.  I feel like I have done great so far but struggle to get the adequate amount of liquids and protein on a daily balance.  I hope others can share their success stories with maintaining the fluids and proteins.

Hi Kierstyn,

My name is Shannon and I am in the middle of the process to get Gastric ...my surgery will be done at MUSC in Charleston , SC - I finished every step and I am waiting on the OK from insurance. I have PCIP insurance via Obama care ... (preexsisting condition insurance) and from what I have read on this site its not to bad to get them to approve it and its pretty quick ...I have been wanting the surgery for over ten yrs now and have yo yo dieted and done extreme diets ...only to gain it all back and then some ...and quick too. I have High BP ...Diabetes ...fatty liver ...skin conditions ...and the list goes on and on. I have not always been big and I still love me ...I just want to get my health back in check so that I have a good quality of life for the years the Lord says I gotta hang out here lol ...I am a married mom of a 15 yr old girl ....my husband though is away for another three yrs so this is gonna be pretty much on my own. So nice to meet all of you and I look forward to sharing this journey with u guys.

Hi Kierstyn, My name is Misty and I am considering Roux-En-Y Gastric Bypass Surgery and would appreciate help with making this decision.  I would like to know what to expect.  I am so tired of feeling like everyone is staring at me and I feel like my quality of life is slipping away.  I use to enjoy working in the garden but now I have a terrible time getting down and up from a kneeling position.

Hello!  My name is Ebby and I am planning to have RNY soon but no date yet. I have to complete a few more things before my papers will be submitted. I feel good about having this done but on the other hand, I feel sort of down because I'm so afraid. I am in need of support and to know that others that are going through this too.

Hello...did you get your surgery yet? I have one more test, an endoscopy, before my paperwork goes to the insurance company for approval. I am excited and nervous at the same time. It took a lot to get to the point of accepting that I need to have this surgery. Looking for others who are at same stage as me, or recently had surgery. Let me know your status and how you're doing!

Hi everyone!  New here too.  I had the RNY surgery on Oct 14th, so barely 2 weeks out.   Looking forward to learning and encouraging others.  It looks like there are quite a few members, but this was the only post to read, or am I missing them?

Debbie :)

i had gastric bypass surgery on sept 13 of 2018. i started on a diet about a month before surgery and so far i have lost 71 lbs. the only time i puked was 1 day ago and that is because i got ahold of some bad flaked salmon. i am doing very well. i eat now because i have to not because i want to. my surgeon was great. he corrected a hiatal hernia when he did the surgery. i have gone down 2 dress sizes and am having to have my clothes taken in. my family is not supportive of my surgery but that is ok because i have a group of friends that are supportive of me and my journey. if i would have waited another 6 months to a year to have surgery i would have either been dead or in a nursing home.thanks for letting me share
