Blood test and Supplements
March 7, 2008 1:36 am The February meeting was very enlightening. Deb Olsson, RN from Bariatric Eating did a presentation on current supplementation protocols and blood test results.
Be the first to leave a comment. It was amazing to hear that some patients are no longer taking any supplements. Others were still taking their Flintstones. Still others have not changed their routine since their surgery even though it might have been 5 + years ago. The news is that things change and we must stay current with the new protocols in order to maintain a happy and healthy life. Much attention is being made to the nutritional deficiencies occurring in the long term patient population. Learn from the number and do not become one of them. Calcium must be in the form of Calcium Citrate We must take at least 1500 mg spaced out in 500 mg doses Calcium should be combined with Magnesium and Vit D Calcium and iron should NOT be taken at the same time Take your iron with Vit C for better absorption Take a potent multi-Vitamin Take a potent B-complex Make sure you are getting enough B-1, B-6 and B-12 When you have your blood work done make sure they test for these B vitamins and vitamin D |
