I wanted to let you know I am 2 weeks out from RNY. My husband is a Marine and I have no medical issues due to the fact that I am over weight. I got approved first time. I have been overweight more than 5 years. Is this the case for you? I would just get all the paper work together and submit it.

Today the wl surgon called to say that i might not have enought medical issues to have wls. What is with that. I have very high liver enzems, pco, im well over 100 lbs. Its like i have to be almost dead from my weight before they will let me have my surgery. I just want to cry cuz i work out so much hell i just got out of the army. i was on the over weight program. i have been killing myself to just lose 2 lbs. im on a 1200 cal diet. im not losing weight. i have to babies that i dont want to leave with out a mommy. its not fair to them. I just want to be healthy and be a mommy that can be there for her kids. why is it i have to die in order to get a surgery? im just so upset right now

Depends really on if you are going to a MTF or through a civilian Dr.  In general the MTF's are able to speed the process along a little bit faster than if you are dealing with a civilian Dr. and Tricare.

Tricare has no 6 month diet requirement.  You are suppose to be 100 lbs over weight.  That said I was only about 80 lbs over weight, but with 7 co-morbidity's.  If I had gotten wls when I was first approved, I would have had it with 3 months of my first appt with my PCM.

Thanks for getting back to me. It is my preference too However, the base had room for me so according to tricare if the base has room for me that is where I have to go. They impressed me when I went for all my OB and the birth of my son, so hopefully this will as good experience as that was.
Thanks again

I dint have my surgery on base. Also I didnt have any 6 month or any other requirement other than being 100 lbs overweight with a co-morbidity the other option is 200% of your body weight with or without a co-morbidity. If you have tricare prime you can go to a civilian surgeon. I dont live near a base so I went to a civilian doctor which is my preference anyway.
