I only have to do 2 meetings.  I did one yesterday.  They have them twice a month so that's the least of my worries.  Right now I'm waiting for them to verify my insurance (umm I have a referral to them so why do they need to verify anything?) so I can get the initial consultation.  And from what I've been told he's already booked through June.  So I already see this is going to be long and drawn out unnecessarily.

Are you required to do three support group meetings?  That was the only reason it took me three months to get thru the approval process.  I was lucky enough to get all my other stuff done really fast.  Have not been to a meeting since surgery but plan to go this month.  Zumba is way to fast paced for me but my teenage girls love it so, I will doit if it will keep them active and healthy and prevents them from ever being in the potion I was in.

 Hi Donna!

I agree I wish more of us would post here. I still pre-op (seminar & 1st support meeting is tomorrow), but I would love to be able to interact with other spouses.

I've heard so many good things about Zumba.  I have to go but the game for the kinect.  I figure I'll do it home in the beginning until I get up the nerve to actually do it in front of people lol.

73 lbs!!!  Congrats girl!!!

Wish we had more active members on here, maybe we can get things going.  I am 3 month post op and the approval process went pretty fast for me.  Almost too fast, I started the whole thing the end of Oct and had me surgery Jan 31st.  I was prepared for the surgery but felt a little lost when it came to the post op.  I am gettting things down now, but it was a whirlwind to say the least.  Here to help if you have any questions.

I so wish this group was more active!  We live a different life style that many people just don't get.  Even just the news of recent events scared me.  Not only that threat cons are raised but that I would go into an emotional eating crazy glued to the TV trying to get every bit of news I could.  DIDN'T HAPPEN!  Went to ZUMBA instead.  Shocked myself!  Even sitting at the gate for 15 mins waiting to get home yesterday didn't stress me enough to eat.  Maybe this whole surgery thing is going to work!  3 moths post op, down 73 pounds, but still learning to deal with life.

They have a great bariatric team at Hood. I've had a couple of friends (I'm from Texas) have their VSG performed at Ft. Hood, and they have all loved their experience and follow up care.

I had mine at a military hospital, so I didn't have to go through that process. It was an easier process for me, than some others I know. They had to go through more than I did to get it, but the approval part was still a fairly easy process for them. I know of one girl that had hers a month ago, she had moved back home while her husband is deployed and had zero problem getting approval through Tricare for an outside provider. As a matter of fact, she called me to ask questions one day, and the next time I spoke to her, she was 2 weeks post-op. That fast for her in TX.

i am in and out of the group and i would love to share my experince..and happy to say in the end was a happy experince. tricare is very quick compared to typical insurance companies i have heard from my surgeon..basically if u are going threw a military provider such as a military hospital. then ur approval is in their hands. taking that u pass the mental evaluation and meet the standard requirements.. the program that ft campbell has i love and am thankful that i got such a great team that works with me .. if there is anything u need to know specifically i would be happy to help where i can..

Hi ladies,

Just wondering if there are any active members in this group?  I would love to hear some current experiences with our beloved Tricare and their approval process lol.

Hope to hear from some of you soon :),
