Topic: just got Authorization approval!
i have Tricare Standard and had my initial consultaion in May. I had to wait till my husband came back from his annual training with the Army National Guard and resume his active duty possition to submitt authorization (for LAP BAND). Let me tell you how FAST Tri-CARE Standard is...my DR"s office submitted authorization on the 29thth of JUNE (two days ago), I aled Tri_care this afternoon,,,and it was APPROVED!!!!!!! I will go into surgery either july 12th or the following week!!! so excited!!
Topic: RE: newbie and waiting
Welcome! I was surprised how quickly the whole process went. After all your testing is done Tri Care can approve pretty quickly then it will just come down to how soon your Dr can get you in. I went to my initial seminar on Oct 22 and had my surgery Jan 31st. Best of luck to you!

Topic: newbie and waiting
Hi, I am rather new to the site and going thru the process of approval. I had my initial seminar and visit with the surgeons office on May 10, 2011 and have had nothing but testing appointments since! I have done all kinds of test, ct scan of chest, abg, stress test, heart echo, sleep study, consult with hematology..aahh! I think I have done all of the testing my surgeon requested now except the psych/nut visit. I hope to get this done soon, waiting on them to call me and schedule. I am so anxious and wondering how long it took some to get approval from tricare and how long after approval was surgery. I think everything is moving rather quickly seeing as how I did my first appt May 10, and the office hopes to submit to tricare by July 11th....ugh I have wanted this for years but took me awhile to get a pcp to agree with me that this is a good thing. I have had the same pcp for over a year now and did his diet plan with little success, now I have high blood pressure, degenerative disc disease, PCOS, and being treated for fibro, but really feel its my weight.. current bmi is 39.8-42.2 depending on what scale you use...any help or information with the tricare process is much appreciated :) Thanks in advance
Topic: RE: Referals/Authorization
Thanks, This is good news to share. Because Tricare will come up with an excuse for not paying and it always comes back to "You didn't have a referral"!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Topic: Referals/Authorization
Your authorization for surgery covers you for post op visits for 90 days. Make sure you see you PCP and get a new referral for follow up care before it runs out. I got messed up because I could not get my 3 months follow up scheduled with in the 90 days but the Dr office was gonna take care of it. But told me to get a new referral before my 6 months, which I haven't gotten around to yet. Now I am have gall bladder issues(PAIN) and in the midst of all this I have to deal with trying to Tricare to rush the referral thru so I can get in to see my surgeon. Apparently no one wants to touch you after you have had By Pass you have to go back to the Dr who did your surgery. Anyway, hope no one has any complication, just wanted to give ya'll a heads up about staying on top of you authorizations so you don't have to worry about it.

Topic: Reflector Belts
I am married to an MP not a problem most of the time. Lately he has been getting on my case for walking without wearing a reflector belt. I hadn't really thought of what I was doing as PT. LOL So I got on line and started looking, and found myself a hot pink reflector belt!!!!! I am so excited can't wait to get. Pink is now the reflector belt color for SPOUSE. LOL

Topic: RE: TRICARE STANDARD and initial consult
...we might be getting our surgery at the same time...fingers crossed..just waiting for surgeon. didn't have any clases or psch eval prerequisits at my Dr....don't woory I'm sure u'll be fine post op..I had an emergency C-section with my first son (at Naval Hosp in Guam..eeeek!!!) 15 years ago..and even then I was up and about after 3 days. Myy doctor said this would be a "walk in the park" compared to that. lets keep each other updated..looks like we'll be going through this at the same time My husband is deployed to the arizona/mexico border. He gets to come home about once a week..thank the Lord...BUT...it's a transition EVERYTIME he comes home. and he only gets to be home for 24 hours. It's harder for him to acclimate than us...but I guess that's what happens when ur in a bullet proof vest 24 hours a day...the mind set is still on the field. When does ur husband come home? HE IS GONNA FLIP WHEN HE sees u!!! and did u know that u can get a tummy tuck and breast implants at SOME military bases? there is a waiting list so i am going to put myself on that list now. Just Call TRICARE and see what Hosp military hosp near you does this. God bless and prayers to you and ur family!
