Did any of you have to go on the 6 months supervised diet? I have been dieting since I can remember and like the rest of the people on this website..dieted my way to this weight and it wasnt montiored though. I have my first consult with the surgeon tomorrow and am feeling out the paperwork right now. I think the questions are scaring me thinkin that they just wont approve me or something. just wondering what you had to go threw for tricare insurance?
thanks,jessy

Hi, I am Tiffani and I am almost 3 months out. My husband is in the Army and we are stationed at Fort Wainwright, Alaska. We have been here since August 2008. Its alright, but obviously cold in the winter. The summers are beautiful though. I had to travel down to Anchorage to have my surgery, but I am so glad I did, even if it meant spending 2 weeks in a hotel.
I guess thats it, I am glad to be able to connect with some other military spouses on OH!

Hi my name is Gillian and I am a Navy wife and Mom to two school age kids. My husband is stationed in San Diego and I had my surgery at Balboa. It was a great experience and I have no regrets. I am almost 3 months out so still definitely a newbie but it is the best thing that I could have done for myself.

yeah i have just been to the first one. and i talked to sandra and she said they havent even touched the list of people that went to the seminar in december and of course that frustrates me even more when i could have my stuff done if i could have that list.. cause once i get started i like to get stuff done..the stall is killin me cause its like, oh, we have space but we havent even looked ur group up yet .makes me mad.what do they expect us to do? but I did talk to one woman who said she was in the november group and she was the last on the list for that so that gives me alil hope.. but i remember i am at the bottom of the list for the december group cause i got there right when they started and was the last to sign in..i hate that...but hopefully they will get thier head on straight and get everyone in soon..cause i swore it felt like they completely forgot me. I was about to think about headin to vanderbilt where my brother is gettin his and just paying out of pocket..so i think i will wait till mid-january like they recommended cause she said by then i can call to make a appointment..THANK GOODNESS ..oh btw yeah i was there got there about 2 minutes late..i always wear my nightmare before christmas jacket when its this cold and i have black hair and green framed glasses now..hope to meet up with u soon..

Ok, we totally need to meet at the same spot at the same time or something, there are sooooo many people I wasn't sure if I saw you or not. lol
Anywooo, let's see if I can help some. When you said you went to the seminar, do you mean the VERY first one, or the 4 hour one? That'll help. If you went to the 4 hour one then you should have your checklist and you can start doing those appts that you need. Seriously my longest wait was for the psych eval. Everything else, unless they send you for extra things are at the hospital. The upper GI was scheduled within a week and the chest xray they will do on the spot if you want to. (It's just a walk-in so you can do it whenever. I went to schedule my upper gi and the chest xray and they said they could do it then)
So... if you have been to the 4 hour class let me know and I'll talk you through as much as you need, if you haven't CALL the office. It sounded to me tonight like they are a little jumbled after the holidays. (And she did say call a couple of times) Believe me, I was a little irritated to hear that they have slots in Feb and no one to fill them considering I waited from Sept until Dec 10 to get my surgery!! (Although it's done now and I don't really care and the timing worked out good for me)
But yeah, anything ya need, just let me know. You added me on yahoo right?? I am horrible on there, I never even sign in unless it is on when I check my email lol, but you can email me here or on yahoo or whatever, I'm always checking that stuff! :) Keep your head up hun, it'll be time before you know it and then you'll have a whole slew of different emotions to deal with! LOL

Hey there! Just hang in there hun, it'll happen! Are you done with your checklist? It takes a bit, but DONT call. I don't know why they are so adamant about that but they are. Let me know where you are in your process and I'll tell you how mine went. Believe me, I waited longer than most. There were a few of us who finished our lists and were waiting for a date when the only surgeon that was doing surgeries got deployment orders so we had to wait until the other 2 got back! (Sanborn and Cronk) It was a NIGHTMARE, but I made it through and boy does it help having people to talk to! I'm here if you need anything! Are you going to group tonight?

Hey, I'm a 33 yr old Air Force wife, who has had 2 WLS. I initially chose the band, and then revised to the VSG this past June.
I've been up and down Tricare Prime for over 2 years now, and have the process down pat. I also have the luxury of seeing a civilian PCM because we don't live on base, and our MTF here is always booked.
My initial band surgery was performed by a civilian surgeon, and it was a deplorable experience. I researched our neighboring base, and found out they did offer/approve VSG, and I sought out a revision. Best decision I could of ever made.
I hit my goal this morning, actually 1lb below goal. So, now I have to figure out how to maintain my weight.
Hope to get to know everyone, and Happy New Year.
