I am 5'2", I weighed 208 at my highest and had many co-morids.  I was less than 100lbs over weight and was approved in less than a week.  Ask, it couldn't hurt to try. Normally tri-care doesn't care about co-morbids, just that you are 100lbs over weight.  I wasn't, so try try try try!

I had my ryn with a civilian surgeon.  I will do my flow ups with them by phone from now on and still get my labs draw at the clinic.

How much longer do you have in Japan?

I think I would go about it to say youare being discrominated based upon where your hubby is stationed.  They are putting your life at risk due to this "policy"  and to let you see the memo in regard to NOT flying you state side for the surgery.

Can you tell me what 200% of my body weight would be.  I'm 5'5 and weigh 215lbs.  I'm not sure if I have any comorbidities so I'm trying to figure out what it would be without them.

Thanks for your help in advance,
JoAnna :)

Topic: What is 200% of my Ideal Body Weight?
I was wondering if anyone knows how to figure out what 200% of my Ideal Boday Weight is?  I am 5'5 and my weight is 215.  I know I don't weigh enough even if I had two comorbidities (I'm not sure if I have any or not.)  I know I have high colesterol and join pain in my knees and hip, but I'm just not sure if I have any of the "major" comorbidities.  I know that if I don't I have to weigh 200% of my body weight, but I'm not sure how to figure out what that number would be.  Can anyone out there help me?

Thanks in Advance,
JoAnna :)

Hello All!

My name is JoAnna, I am an Army wife and mother of three beautiful little girls!  I have not had WLS yet, but have gone to 4 seminars (1 in Okc, 2 in VA and 1 here in TX).  I guess you can say that I am gathering all my information before I have it done.  I think I have found the surgeon that I want to perform the surgery, but I'm not sure if my PCP will let me go outside the base.  I have an appt with her on Tuesday to get a referal.  I also have an appt with the suregeon on April 7th....that seems so far away...lol.  Anyway, it's great to find a site that has so much support.  I look forward to becoming friends with you all! :)

Ttyl,
JoAnna

I just had mine done last Thursday and I am fine, I felt nothing and they give you a medicine that causes you to forget, so if you are awake or alert, you won't remember it. The last thing I remember is them telling to me roll over and then asking if I felt the medicine, I said No, not yet, that was it, it was all black after that! LOL You'll be fine, won't feel a thing!!
Wish I would have known it was all in my head to begin with!

Hello Everyone!

I am Deidra.  I am 32.  I am a Navy Wife.  We are currently stationed in Norfolk VA.  We have two little ones.  I am having my RNY on March 16th (in three days!!!  WOOHOO!!!).  My Current weight is 269.  I started out at 289, but with watching what I eat and a 2 week liquid diet I am down.  LOL  Anyhow, I am looking foward to getting to know everyone!!

Hey there!  I had the EGD done last month (I'm working towards surgery now too).
I was put partly under for the procedure, but honestly I don't remember much.  I did wake up a little bit before they were ready for me to be, and I was coughing because they were removing the camera thingy, but it didn't hurt at all.  I can remember hearing the doctor talking about what he was looking at, and one very nice nurse rubbing my arm and telling me to relax and that I was fine.  Some more coughing, and it was out and the next thing I remember I was waking up with my hubby at my bedside.
I can imagine being scared to death from your prior experience, but really this wasn't too bad.  Nothing like the pain you had from the tooth, and hopefully calmer on the meds this time too.  I told them that I sometimes wake up nauseous when I am put all the way out, and the doctor ordered one of those sea-sickness tag they stick behind your ear for me.  I didn't even have the sore throat that I had been warned about.
Try to relax, and I wish you luck!
Nancy
