Finding a surgeon after PCS

PCS'ing is a normal occurrence for us, and I've always wondered about finding a surgeon to take on our aftercare if/when we PCS.

My husband has been approved for a retrain out of Security Forces, and we'll definitely be PCS'ing if/when he passes flight engineer tech school. I'm extremely attached to my revision surgeon, he literally saved my life, and even though with VSG, I need minimal follow-up, my biggest concern is finding another surgeon that will take care of my aftercare needs. I knew going into this that PCS'ing (for my surgeon or our family) would come into play at some point, but I wanted to know if any of y'all have had to deal with finding another surgeon.

VSG is not approved by Tricare outside of MTFs. I currently have Tricare prime, and would switch to Standard if I could find a civilian to take on my aftercare if we were to get orders somewhere that didn't have VSG surgeons. I should add that I have extremely high standard of care expectations, and will not sacrifice my health to be seen by someone who isn't familiar with VSG, and our aftercare needs.

Any and all input is appreciated.

The nurse practioner where I had my surgery done said that we should always feel free to stay in contact with her and that she will help us get the labs and care that we need with our primary care doctors even after we are done with the required followups through the surgeon in the first year.  I am sure that if you ask your surgeons office they will do the same.  It doesn't solve every issue especially if complications arise but at least you will know that you are still getting everything monitored the way that you should be lab wise and all.

Thank you bunches. Luckily, both of the surgeons that did my revision gave me their email and cell phone numbers so I would access to them. They've been really fabulous to me, and I should have known to not get so attached. I think I'll miss my surgical team more than the friends I've made here just because they have taken such amazing care of me through all my complications.

I had my ryn with a civilian surgeon.  I will do my flow ups with them by phone from now on and still get my labs draw at the clinic.
