If you could have known one thing before RNY, what would it be?

I was pretty informed so there wasn't really anything. The only thing I hate is keeping my protein count up but I already knew that prior. Good Luck!!

Make sure you know all the risks involved. I also wanted to speak with some of "my" surgeons clients and find out how they were doing years out.
That you will have to take vitamins every day for the rest of your life.
That it is not the easy way out- head hunger is a *****!
Research, research, research!

good luck to you!

Be sure you are doing this 100% for YOU. Not only are you your own worst nightmare, but you are your own best friend and biggest supporter!

The biggest thing I learned after my surgery was that the people who swore they would be supportive and encouraging pre-op have had a completely different version of things afterwards. I was very suprised that there was not as much support as I had let myself expect.

Physically though... the amount of liquids protein you have to consume can be much harder than expected! But, I would still do it all over again in a heart beat!!

Good luck!
