Did any of you have to go on the 6 months supervised diet? I have been dieting since I can remember and like the rest of the people on this website..dieted my way to this weight and it wasnt montiored though. I have my first consult with the surgeon tomorrow and am feeling out the paperwork right now. I think the questions are scaring me thinkin that they just wont approve me or something. just wondering what you  had to go threw for tricare insurance?
thanks,jessy

Here's how it happened for me and I'm Tricare Prime.
I went to my civilian PCP and told her I was interested in the WLS, she put in a referral.
Days later I received a letter saying to call for my Orientation.
Attended an Orientation at the Naval Hospital, a couple of weeks later met w/a surgeon (with documentation of the diets I've been on for the past couple of years), she gave me task to complete like ultrasound, Chest Xray, Psych, and Nutrition. Now I'm waiting to see the surgeon again for her to go over my results and to set a date.

None of my diets were monitored. I told my PCP the diets that I was on and she wrote it on her letterhead and I submitted to my surgeon.

I hope that helps.

no 6 month diet here, but they did need a list of diets i had tired...
If they are in your medical record awesome.. but when you go do your evals bring up your diet history with the dietitian and with your psychological exam..
Just give all your history and be honest with it..
Good luck, can't wait to make room on the looser bench for you..

No 6 month supervised diet here. RACH has a bariatric program and it does not require the 6 month thing. It did take about 5 months from start to finish for me and I had several appointments to complete before I got my date. It was worth it and if I had to do a 6 month diet I would of gladly done it to get to the end result.
