My diet is for the 2 weeks preceding surgery. It consists of 2 protein shakes, 3-4 hours apart, then a small dinner consisting of 3oz lean meat and a green veggie, both cooked w/o added fat. If I get hungry, I can have sugar-free popsicles, but no more than 4 a day. Lots of water, a multivitamin, and exercise.
I really haven't done anything fancy. I'm using EAS 100% Whey Protein powder in chocolate, and it's not too bad. It has 23g of protein, and it's really good at keeping the hungries at bay. Been doing a variety of grilled meats for dinner since it's warmed up quite nicely here in San Antonio.

Topic: Your preop plan
Hey all....
Thought it would be interesting to learn about all of our different preop plans...either what your surgeon/program requires of you or what you plan to do on your own.
For me...I start a 1200 cal diet two weeks prior to surgery consisting of 2 protein substitutes (either beverages or bars) per day plus one low-fat, low cal meal (protein, veg, light starch). I can also have up to 3 "free items" per day (things like raw veggies, skim milk, etc).
Also, exercise for 30 minutes per day! And, continue to take my vitamins! And, I just may have to pop on here and have some of you hold me accountable!!
What's your plan look like? Thinking we may be able to share some good ideas!

Oh ladies, I am so with you! For me...carbs and food in general....I feel like I'm never fully satisfied, never really FULL. I know that sometimes I eat because I'm physically hungry but there are times that I just want to taste something over and over again. I know I eat due to boredom and to give me something to do at times and can't help but think if I was really full...well, then I wouldn't need to eat any more.
Anyway, back to those evil carbs! I've always had struggles with them. I've never been a sweets person...more of a potato, pasta and rice kinda girl. I could eat mounds of the stuff...how awful! And, as we all know, the more carbs you eat, the more carbs your body wants. Grrrr!
I'm so hopeful that this tool will help me be full and stop the desire to continue eating! We will work through these things together!!

I'm with you Mrs. C., I LOVE detailed reports. I'm hoping that I'll be lucid enough to give you all my experience in detail! Won't have my laptop, but should be able to do it on my phone.

Cathi, I'm right there with ya on the carb addiction. In the past I've eaten just plain old slices of bread when I get the craving. Cakes, cookies, rolls, pastries, you name it, I'll eat it.

In the intro thread, I've noticed several people mention how hard it is to give up smoking and caffeine. Fortunately, I've never smoked and caffeine has always triggered migraines for me, so I generally stay away from it. My biggest addiction is (and probably always will be) CARBS. God, I love 'em! I find myself thinking of them all day long...it kinda makes me feel like a crack addict, constantly jonzing for my next hit. So that's my biggest addiction. What's yours?

What a great idea, Tracy!
Looks like you're the 1st in our group to have surgery. You'll have to let us know how everything goes once you've had your procedure. I'm going to bring my laptop with me to the hospital, so everyone will get a blow-by-blow report. LOL
