I can't tell you how long I have been waiting to be part of a sleeve "month" group. Yes I can actually 1 YEAR! I am 36 years old - unmarried - 2 wonderful dogs (see profile pic). I have pretty much been overweight my entire life.
I finally got to the end of my rope late 2009 when I joined Weigh****chers (WW) for the last time. I said I will give it 110% and if I don't lose a significant amount of weight by the end of the year, that was it. I was going to have to get some additional help. I read about the VSG probably in 2008 and decided that if I was every going to have WLS it would be the sleeve. But of course at the time, I was convinced I could lose weight on my own. WW was the worst, I was losing weight but I was sooooooo obsessed with food and points it became overwhelming, plus I was hungry all the time. I stopped counting points and that was all she wrote. I just couldn't get back on track.
So I have been having problems with insurance since March of last year. After all that it too****il February of this year for me to get approved. Its been a long road..but I know it will be worth it.
March 16th will be here before I know it!
I have a youtube channel and I blog. Feel free to stop by and check them out.

My pre-op diet is 2 weeks before surgery on 20g of carbs (which might as well be zero..lol..) Then liquids the day before. I have full support of my family. My mom, dad, sister, aunt, cousin, and 2nd cousin are all coming to Atlanta to support and take care of me. Did I mention I live in a 2 bedroom apartment..lol? But I love them dearly!
Thanks Cathi for creating this group, it will be great to also have support from those who know what we are going through!

Topic: Tired
Hey guys, is anyone that is doing the pre op diet..TIRED??? OMG, I am so tired! I am drinking my protein shakes, and taking my vitiams, but I am wore out by about 2 pm. I was wondering if this is normal or could I be coming down with something. Nothing else really bothers me except my head. I am having surgery in a week..Woo Hoo, and I do not want to be sick =)

Hey guys, I'm Alisha. I am 34, married to a great guy and we have two ASWEOME girls. I live in Kentucky and I'm having surgery March 2! My surgeon is Dr Robert Farrell, and I have to say him and his staff are AWESOME!!
It is great that Cathi took the time to start this group, and I'm very thankful that there is a web site out here, to find others going through the same things as me. And all within the month of March, it's even better =)
I think my story starts out the same way as most..Child-overweight, Teen-overweight and Adult-overweight-few years in between I lost some weight, but if I am here, it all came back, right =(
My biggest thing is that I want to feel better! I am so tired of telling my kids that I cant do this because I'm tired, or can we do it tomorrow, because I have a headache or other pains. It is not fair to them, and I sure do not want them to grow up and get out of the house, and think.."mom never did anything with us. Trust me I want too, I just cant physically or mentally do most. When they want to do things that come up "weight related" like ride something at the fair, for example, I will make a lie, like "mom does not like roller coaster, etc.., because I sure do not want to stand in line a long time, just to get up there and not FIT into it..how horrible would that be for me and my kids...
So back in June 2010, I went to a seminar, and listen to a DR talk about the surgeries, they did not offer the sleeve at this location. It was a room filled with over 40 people. I felt like they were pushing us in, and pushing us out, and calling the next week, saying..OK, so you gonna do it or not!! I did not like that, so I put it off.
In Aug 2010, I finally got tired of choking on food that would go down the wrong way, which this had been happening for over two years at the time, so I went to see my PCP. She wanted to refer me to have a scope done to make sure it was nothing serious. There are two Dr's in my town that do these type of surgeries. She said they were both GREAT, and told me she would make an apt for either one. One was a oldie but goodie, and the other was a new fresh Dr. I had not really heard a lot about either of them at this point, so I told her it did not matter, I just needed to figure out what was making me do this. So she said, lets see who can get you in first, so that is where i left it at! Well within an hr they were calling me saying that Dr Farrell could see me in a week, and she gave me the time and place to be.
Well what I did not know at the time was that Dr Farrell was a WLS surgeon. So as I was walking into his office, i noticed the bill board he had up talking about the surgeries, so I asked him about it when he came into the room, and that is how I got here.
I was debating on if I should or not have it done. I talked to family members, which some immediate said, OH NO, its dangerous..so I just had a talk with GOD. I said if it meant to be, you will find the way for me, if not, please stop it! So I am here a week away, So, so far its A GO!!
Thanks guys for listening, and if I can help you in any way, please let me know =) We can NEVER have too many friends!!

Topic: RE: Tofu Shirataki noodles
I have not tried any of these yet but I have been curious if they were good or not. I may give them a try when I can get back on solids.
I have read that there is one kind that has a fishy taste to it.

Do you have faith and believe in GOD? If so, you will be fine! I also worried about this as well..I have two little girls..but I had a long talk with God and said if I should have this, lets flow on through, and if not, stop it in its tracks..and so far all is good! I got approved by my insurance and my surgery is next Wednesday. All will be good with me and you will also be fine! Just think of everyting you will be able to do with your kiddos and hubby after you drop the weight! You will feel like doing it, and also be able to 'size' wise...that is what I am looking forward too so much!!
If I can help, let me know..Add me as a friend! I try to get on here as much as possible..at least once a day!!
