I will start my liquid diet on Wednesday.  I am on liquids 1 week prior to surgery and 3 weeks post surgery.  I have bought some Jay Robb unflavored protein to add to anything.  They say you can't taste it and i'll be getting protein from this.  I've bought broths, juices, and anything that can be sucked through a straw.  I have a feeling it will be a long 4 weeks.  I am super excited and hope this weight will finally come off and stay off.

I really don't know much about the Arnica. My Dr. recommended it and that was the first I ever heard of it. According to the decription:

Arnica is used as a remedy in homeopathy. Arnica preparations are usually taken after surgery to reduce pain and swelling, for alleviating acute sprains and strains, and for bruise relief. It is also used to manage the pain before and after labour and delivery, as well as to lessen trauma. What is arnica tablets used for?

Arnica is commonly sold commercially in tablet or cream form. Arnica tablets have been widely used as supplementary homeopathic treatment for bruises, strains and sprains, for pre- and post-operative care, for muscular pain, and for shock and trauma, among others.

From what I understand, you should take it in pellet form because you shouldn't apply cream to the incision sites. I read that you should take 4pills/pellets 4 times a day for 3 days before and 3 days after your surgery date. I accidently started taking mine 1 day early.

I bought mine online at VitaCost because I couldn't find it at any of the stores in the little town I live in, but they say it can usually be found in walgreens and sometimes walmart.

The one I purcahsed is:
Hyland's Arnica Montana 6x -- 250 Tablets for $4.36
My shipping was about $15, but I did buy several other products that I thought I would need to have when I return home.

Ohhh...do tell more about this Arnica!  What is it?  Where do you get it? How does it work?  The time is going by fast, isn't it?!  Before you know it, you'll be home and sleeved! How exciting!

I can't believe how fast time is going. Monday I will be flying to Tijuana and Tuesday I will have my surgery! I started my 3 day clear liquid diet today and I must admit, it SUCKS! But it's only 3 days, I can do it. I also started taking Arnica today. I never heard of this stuff before, but my Dr's office reccomended it. It's supposed to reduce the swelling and bruising from surgery. So, I figured I would try it.
Surprisingly, I am still very excited. I can't believe my nerves haven't set in yet. But I have faith in my anxiety, LOL, I know it will show up by the time I get on the plane!

I know there are a few others in the group that will be having surgery next week. How are you all holding up so far?

Hi Kerri,

Just doing liquids for a week can be hard. If it does not have to be clear liquids I would try some protein shakes. They might help you feel full. I have also heard that people on the liquid diet were allowed sugar free gelatin and sugar free popsicles. I just started the "clear liquid only" part of my diet and it sucks! All I've had is broth, vitamin water, and water. Blah! I never realized how much I would miss meat until I started on my 2 week pre-op diet!

Question: Where do you live (city, state or just state) and are you having your surgery done close to where you live?
If so, where at? (For example: city, state or just state).
If not, where will you have the surgery done (city, state or state).

I live in San Antonio, Tx, and I'm having my surgery here in San Antonio.  The hospital is only about a 15-20 minute ride from my house.

As I mentioned before caffeine aka coffee is one of my addictions but I have to agree with carbs mainly starchy carbs and cheese any kind of cheese!  That has been my internal struggle today!  I love my cheese!
