hey guys..im doing pretty well.  I had to stay an extra night because of the swelling in my stomach that was not letting liquid go down smoothly so it was making me very sick at my stomach everytime I tried to drink anything..so yesterday I felt pretty crappy, but as of now, the meds they gave me over night helped open it up, and helped me sleep, so other than ready to wash my hair, I am feeling pretty much back to normal.lol

Everything else is healing well.  I can get up pretty good on my own,.  I believed someome compared the pain to a c section, I had two of them, and the pain is most worse with the c sections.

Oh one thing that is taking me a bit to get used to is all the liquid meds, they are nasty,
feel like a kid again, but that will get better...

Hope everyone is doing well..I want to hear from you guys when you feel up too it.

Tracy....glad things are going well for you also!!

Topic: RE: Started on the preop today
My pre op is a little different to yours in the states.  I have to eat a small breakfast ie 1 weetabix or a small bowl of all bran or porridge (Something high fibre) Then for lunch 50g of chicken, fish or meat or small portion of cheese 25g or 2 eggs , Salad vegetables (No dressing containing oil) and a slice of wholemeal bread or 2 crispbreads then for dinner a small portion of lean meat, chicken or fish (50g) or a small portion of low fat cheese or 2 eggs or tofu, Quorn,(75g) or beans (50g) 1 small potato or 2 tablespoons of fice or pasta and as much vegetables as you like but avoid root vegetables such as carrot turnipm parsnip and beetroot.
Each daiy I have 1/3pt skim or semi skim milk, 2 portions of fruit, Free tea, coffee, 1 low fat, sugar free yoghurt( or you can have an extra 1/3 pt milk) and 1 multivitamin tablet (Centrim or Sanatogen gold) So quite a lot really, Thank god for free vegetables.  I have to do this until the night before my op.  No clear fluids for 3 days.  So far I have lost 4KG (about 9lb) and I am weeing like a racehorse so go  liver go.
My colleague at work who is having a bypass in april and is going to a different hospital has the option of either 1000 cal diet or shakes and she can choose. I think it has to do with where you are getting this done really.

Topic: Post Op Day 3
Each day that goes by I feel much better. I still have some soreness in my stomach and in the area my gallbladder was at, and my incision sites are very sore as well. The middle of my back and my left shoulder are also very sore and tender. I think all of these little pains are normal and are mostly bothersome when I am trying to sleep. I still haven't managed to find a comfortable way to sleep yet, that may take another week or so, but I will manage one way or another.

My main fun for this day was getting THREE root canals. That was absolutely no fun whatsoever. The root canals actually took longer than my surgery! By the time we were done, I didn't think I could close my mouth! Man it hurt. But I am Sooooo glad I got it over with.

Tomorrow I will have caps placed on the 3 teeth that had root canals, a wisdom tooth extracted, and get a mold for 2 implants. I will then return next Tuesday for the implants and some gum surgery.

Other than that, my recovery is pretty uneventful. I have been taking meds orally and was told to take them as is, I didn't need to crush them or anything. I have been getting a quick sharp pain around the top of my stomach and on the side where my gallbladder was, but it comes and goes pretty quick. And a few times a day the inside of my stomach will feel like there is a mini earthquake going off. It doesn't really hurt but it feels a little uncomfortable. Not sure what's causing that; maybe healing?

I do have some pretty nasty bruises and some marks on my stomach where the tape was that looks like it peeled the skin off when it was taken off. Those spots actually hurt pretty bad because they are raw, but they are healing. That's really all I can think of to tell you all. Unless I come out with an infection, it looks like I am healing well.  I will feel more comfortable once the drain site closes up and heals.

I might try to visit another sleever from Texas tomorrow and I think Trish and I will go out to eat, or should I say go out to slurp some soup! If all continues well, I will probably wait until Monday for another update. I look forward to reading everyones progress so far!
