I think a short term struggle I will have is drinking all the water I need to drink. I am already struggling with that at Post op day 6. It's really hard to drink so much plus eat a little broth because right now I just don't feel hungry. The way I am trying to overcome this problem is by always having a bottle of water everywhere I go and simply forcing myself to drink regradless of if I am hungry or thirsty.

I think the long term will be different for me. I believe I will struggle more with head hunger in the long term. If that does become a problem I plan on making sure I mentally ask myself if I am physically hungry or if I simplt want to eat because something looks good or smells good. My hope is that this won't become a problem. I just know that it is something I will have to be very watchful of.

After your surgery, what do you anticipate will be your biggest struggle for weightloss and how do you plan on overcoming it?

Thank you!
I'm happy to hear you are recovering so well also!
You know, many of the meds I am taking are in pill form and I take them whole. I was scared at first because most dr prefer the liquid or chewable but it hasn't hurt me at all. However I was told to take my vitamins in liquid or chewable. Maybe it just depends on the pill for some Dr.

Take care!

So sorry you had to go through all that for nothing but it is better to be safe and know for sure. The bedpan does not sound like anything I would enjoy doing! I am glad I was able to go potty on my own after surgery!
I am very happy you are set back for surgery! Congrats!

Cathi,
Great to have you back!
I feel for you on that dry heaving and throwing up; I honestly could not even imagine what that would feel like after surgery. I am so thankful I did not have that problem. And your poor dad! That had to be a little frantic for him; thank God your mom was not hurt in a more serious way. You two will be recuperating together I guess.
I know how you feel about not wanting anything to "eat". My first 2 days I only had ice chips. I'm really glad they gave ice chips instead of water because it doesn't all go down at once. On my 3rd dayI still didn't want anything with taste but I was told I have to drink 1.5 cups gatorade everyday. When I started drinking, it tasted really good and didn't upset my stomach like I thought I would. I waited until day 4, which was my 3rd day after surgery, before I had broth. I was also worried it would upset my stomach and to be honest, I simply don't feel hungry, but I knew I needed to start consuming more than water and gatorade! Once I ate some, it was good and had no effect on my tummy. I would imagine that the fear of something upsetting your stomach is even worse when you have already been throwing up.
Take care!

Eydie,
So happy to hear your surgery went well and that you are healing nicely! The gas pasin sticks around for awhile. I still have problems with gas throughout the day, but it's better than before. I'm not sure I will drink the powdered chicken broth for awhile. I will likely but a cheap can of chicken noodle soup and strain it; to me the broth is much better that way.

Keep us posted on how you're progressing!
