Topic: RE: Anyone feel like chatting 03/06/11
Kim,
Wish I would have seen this yesterday, I would love to chat with everyone sometime.
Maybe if others are interested we can try to decide on a specific time during the day/night. Maybe even certain days of the week if it is easier for some.
I am typically available any day from 4pm - 10pm central time.
If anyone else is interested or have suggestions, please respond with them.

Kati,
I'm so excited for you! You will be so happy once it is all over with. Just remember the first few hours after are the worse and the first day is the hardest. After that it is nothing but improvement!
Have a safe and uneventful surgery!
Let us know how you are doing when you feel up to it!

Topic: Leaving for my Surgery
Well fellow sleevers and soon to be sleevers, I am on my way to Nashville to leave for San Diego in the morning and then across the border to Tijuana, Mexico. I just received a phone call from my surgeon's office and everything is a go. Woo Hoo!
I can't believe this is truly happening. My emotions are all over the place. Is this the right thing to do? I spoke with my mom just a little while ago and she said, "its not too late to change your mind." My mind has been made up for over five years now and this opportunity came around when I needed a change in my life. I think its time that the world see's the real me from the inside out instead of the outside in.
Good luck to all of you who are getting sleeved tomorrow. Happy Fat Tuesday to us! I will try and post as soon as I can. Thanks for all of the great posts and words of encouragement. I'll see you all on the losers bench. Take care.

Topic: RE: Introductions
Hello everyone, I'm Kelly. TOMORROW (8th) is my surgery. I'm starting to get anxious but still committed and excited. I'm 53, 5'5 and 220 as of this morning.
Doctor: Dr. Quilici
Hospital: St Joseph's, Burbank, CA
Anthem Blue Cross/Blue Shield - 24 hour approval
Process from 1st Inquiry to Surgery - 2 months
I'm single with my 21 y/o college student son living with me. My biggest fear is not taking full advantage of this tool. However, I am so comfortable with my decision for the sleeve as my surgery.
Wow, it's really going to happen!

Hi all. I'm just taking my pre-op antibiotic--my surgery is tomorrow! I am almost 53 years old and have 101 pounds to lose. I figure I''ve had these 100 for 23 years and looking forward to saying goodbye to them!
I'm in Mexicali, Baja California (Mexico). My surgeon is Alberto Aceves Diaz. My friend and collegue had surgery with him last summer and had a wonderful experience. Since we are both physicians, the decision to have WLS was easy--it is the most scientifically proven method to sustained weight loss. But finding time to be away from the practice was the hardest part. Except for the 300 calories per day of exercise, that is!
I'm looking forward to your posts and your journeys!

Hi all--surgery in about 12 hours (Mar 7) and just taking my pre-op meds. So nice to have found you and good luck to you all!
Topic: Post Op Day 6
Well it has been 6 days since my surgery and I am still improving everyday. Getting in and out of bed is much easier, with very little discomfort. Sleeping is becoming much easier also. Half the night I sleep on my back (kinda propped up on a bunch of pillows) and the other half I sleep on my side. Sleeping on my side feels less awkward and uncomfortable as well.
There's really not a lot to say, other than eveything continues to get better and easier.
There are a couple of things I never mentioned in my previous posts that some of you may be interested in; especially if you have never had surgery before.
1 - Right after surgery I noticed I could not take very deep breaths. For me that is very uncomfortable, I just feel uneasy not being able to take a good deep breath. But as with everything else, it does improve. In fact I am breathing quite normal now and can take a good deep breath easily. So if that is something that will freak you out, just know it gets easier everyday.
2 - I was always a tummy sleeper but after surgery you don't want to try it right away. I noticed the day after surgery that stuff was kinda building up in my chest. I never really felt a strong need to cough, but when I cleared my throat I could feel stuff moving around. I was scared to cough because I thought it would hurt buut I also knew I didn't want stuff building up in my chest or lungs so I made myself cough it up. I had to cough up stuff a few times for the first 2 days after surgery. It was kind of hard to do because I couldn't get a good breath, but I managed. I don't know if it's from sleeping on my back or something else. Just something I want you to be aware of in case it also happens to you. Check if you need to cough up stuff and do it if you have to. It was a little uncomfortable for me but it really needs to be done.
