Take chopstick along...I didn't and my lips became so dry. I became thirsty and enjoyed ice chips. My surgery went well- 4 hrs as expected. I had awful gas pains after surgery. Make sure you walk because it really helps! I started my journey at 285.5. The day of my VSG, I weighed 270.1 lbs! I am 3wks post and feeling wonderful. My main obstacle was getting used to the protein (ugh!) drink the recommended amounts of water suggested by your doctor. Try setting up a scheduled time to eat. Try and plan your meals, too. I use a water bottle that states the ounces. I find it helpful. When I find myself lagging behind with the amount of water; I am known to resort to a measuring cup!
Good luck and best wishes! You've made an amazing decision in a positive direction. My life (as well as yours) has changed for the better.

Topic: Tomorrow
Well only 22 hours to go till I have to go to the hospital to have my sleeve and I can join those of you who are getting used to your new lives. I am not really nervous, but I expect that that will change nearer the time and whether I sleep tonight, well that is another issue...Never mind I will tomorrow...LOL
I have a day off today and I have a list of things to do. Change my bedding, Pay my credit card off and my account with Simply Be. buy some more 4month baby food. Hoover the house and do the washing. Cook the last meal for my husband. He is having roast pork.... Email my best friend with directions to the hospital. Calm my mother down again!!! (She is stressed as she sort of feels it is her fault that I am fat)(No mother, I put the stuff in my mouth) Also I am her only daughter. She will come down and see me in hospital on Friday.
Oh Yes I must pack my bag and what do I need???
May be when I get to the hospital I will get a rest.
Actually just thinking about this maybe I am getting a little nervous, Must not show it though and portray an air of confidence. I think you guys are the only ones that I will tell that too
See you on the other side....hopefully.....

Topic: RE: Question of the Week 3/14/11
I plan to track. Right now I'm subscribed to Fit Day, but I'm not sure I love it enough to stick with it. I'm going to check out a few other sites that have apps I can add to my phone, because I definitely want to be able to track when I'm out throughout the day.
Especially in the beginning I think it will be important for me to track so that I see exactly how much protein I'm getting. Also, the accountability is good for me.

Congrats! Sorry you had a rough start, but it sounds like you're on the right track now.

Topic: I am finally here
Hi All!
I am finally here on the losers bench. It has been a very loooong week. I returned from TJ, Mexico on Thursday and drove home on Friday. When I left TJ I was unable to keep anything down. It wouldn't even make it to my stomach and it would be up before I knew it. I spoke with my surgeon and he said it was not unusual to vomit for the first few days and that it would subside. I really don't think he realized how much I was vomiting. The vomiting didn't subside, it just got progressively worse. I finally went to the ER and they admitted me and I had EGD done. The doctor thought maybe something was stuck in my esophagus and that was causing all of the vomiting. They scoped me on Sunday and didn't find anything besides inflammation in my stomach. Once the scope was done and I was awake, I told the nurses in the recovery room that I was passing gas. Where before I thought it was odd that I never had gas pain or passed any gas from the surgery. I was never nauseated either. Once all of that was flowing I was feeling so much better. Within an hour I was able to keep fluids down. Thank God!
The worse fears were going through my mind. I thought what have I done to myself. But the doctor assured me that I did do the right thing and that I would be just fine. So here I am finally on the infamous losers bench.
Thank you all for your well wishes before my surgery. I really appreciated it. I hope everyone who I have missed before their surgery is doing great. I'll chat with you all soon.
