I started my low carb (no more than 20g per day) diet on Monday, 3/7. Until today, I've been doing very well staying at/near 20grams, and I've not really been tempted to have any of the carbs I see others in my family eating.

This afternoon I made cupcakes for my son's birthday party on Saturday, as well as a huge amount of buttercream icing (9 cups of confectioner's sugar, 2 cups of white sugar, and 6 sticks of butter in the cupcake batter and icing!), and found myself licking the bowl. In the scheme of things it's not the worst thing, but I am upset with myself, especially because I have my pre-op visit in five days and need to be 5 pounds lighter than I am today.

I'm drinking lots of water in hopes of flushing some of the bad stuff out.

Topic: Will March 22 ever get here?
Well, I'm five days out from surgery and Freakin out! Wondering if Tuesday will get here soon enough. Post op was on Monday and a.little scary...I know the surgeon has to go over EVERYTHING, the good, the bad and the ugly....guess I just didn't want to hear the potential bad things this close to the bIg day. Don't get me wrong, I've researched the sleeve to the ends of this planet, and know what's involved.....just so nervous and have been soooo cranky these past few days

Need some encouragement and happy thoughts! Thanks all!

I started eating mushies 1 week early. I really tried to do 100% of what my Dr said but I just couldn't take another week of broth and juice. 2 weeks of liquids before surgery and then 3 more after? Come on. I see where some dr's have their patients start on mushies during the 1st week, so I figured starting on the 3rd week would be ok. I guess I made an executive decision.
While I don't feel like I made the wrong decision, I was conflicted during the first few days. I felt like I was doing something wrong by going against my Dr's post op diet. But I felt like it was the best decision for me. My job can be somewhat physical and I was becoming too weak.

That is my confession. Anyone else got something they want to let go of?

13 pounds in 6 days is amazing! I have only lost 10 pounds in 14 days. I don't know why I am not losing faster because I am a very heavy weight.
I finally got my first feeling of restriction 2 days ago. I waited too long to eat and was so hungry I ate fast and must have had a couple spoons too much. I thought I was going to be sick.
I was on liquids for 2 weeks after surgery (was supposed to be 3 weeks but I went on mushies 1 week early). During this time I didn't feel any restriction either. I was getting worried also, but once I started on mushies I felt restriction pretty quickly!
I'm glad you are doing so well on your weightloss! I am so jealous! I really need to see a nutritionist to help me figure out what I am doing wrong.

Topic: RE: Question of the Week 3/14/11
So far I have not tracked my intake but I know I need to start. In the past I always tracked what I was eating because I needed to track calories and carbs. I guess I didn't think it would be important yet because I can't eat much, but I have other reasons to track now.

For example, I have realized I am waiting too long to eat, then I am so hungry I eat too fast, which has caused me to eat more than needed at times, which is very uncomfortable. You would be surprised at the difference a few little bites can make.

In the past I have used just pen and paper and an app on my phone to track my food intake. I think I will probably use my cell phone app, My Net Diary, to track this time. I like this app because you can also use the website to track everything at mynetdiary.com

I think it would be unusal for someone to not be nervous. It's very normal. Keep up your positive attitude and it will fly by faster than you think! Looking forward to seeing you on the losers bench!

I'll be thinking of you!
