Topic: RE: Amount of food????
I am using a baby weaning spoon and a baby bowl for my food.  Sounds daft but you can't go putting too much at a time in your mouth...
As fir quantities it depends on what you are eating and what time of the day it is
In the morning I find eating difficult to say the least yet by teatime no problems with 2-3 tbsps
I think that the advice listen to your body and it will tell you.
Never thought that I would be satified with such small amounts.  but it is true I am never hungry.  Still drinking tea though never a problem with that

What are all of you eating to get your protein in?  And, what is your daily carb count looking like?  I'm just looking for ideas...not having the best day with protein.

Thanks!

Topic: Recipe Exchange? Food Advice?

How does everyone feel about adding a recipe exchange in our group somewhere...either here on the exchange board or on the blog? Maybe also posting some product reviews as we come across some really great (or really gross) stuff? Let me know what you think, and I'll see about getting something started if that's the way we want to go.

Topic: Unflavored Protein + Milk = Winner
I don't know about you guys, but I am seriously over the whole protein drink thing. I just can't stomach them anymore. They're too thick, and the vanilla/chocolate/strawberry thing has gotten old really fast. I've never been overly fond of sweet drinks, and I feel like that's all I've been drinking lately.

So the last time I was in GNC, I picked up a small bag of the GNC brand unflavored protein powder. I'm sure there's better one's out there, but it was the cheapest option for something I wasn't sure I'd like.

I opened it up last night, and tried it. First, I mixed it with some water so that I could see what the true flavor is. It's not great, but not gross either. With water, it tastes kinda wheaty/nutty. So now I know that I can mix it into pretty much anything that would benefit/blend with a wheaty/nutty flavor. And it's not a strong flavor, so I might be able to sneak it into really strong flavored things unnoticed.

I haven't tried it in a lot of things yet...I'll get there. But just now I mixed half a scoop into 8 oz of milk...OMG YUM! It tastes kinda like the milk left over after you eat cereal. I LOVE cereal milk, so this is a major winner for me. So now instead of 8g of protein in my 8oz of milk, I'll get 18.5g (21g of protein per scoop, but only used half a scoop).

Milk goes down easier than water for me (weird, I know), so I'm super excited about this extra boost of protein. I'm going to keep trying out my unflavored protein powder in lots of things, and I'll post those results as well.

Hi Mrs. Claus and Cathy......I'm amazed that today and yesterday 1 week out that I don't feel any pressure when I eat. I do feel the restriction after having a few teaspoons of yogurt or soup but I did realize that I do need to eat slower so I have been making it last at least 15-20 minutes as best as I can. Still not getting enough fluid in but trying. I'm about to go get some skim milk and sf pudding cups and some more decaf tea bags.

Cathi, that is awesome!  I took my measurements on Surgery Eve and even tried measuring my thigh again last night....not sure why because I don't think it changed in a week.  And, I was right.  All in good time.  I also figured out that I need to put the scale away because my obsession with it isn't good.

I did a quick measurement of my waist and hips last night, and I've lost 2 inches off each!!! This is wonderful news considering I didn't lose any weight (according to the scale) last week.

If you haven't taken your measurements yet, DO IT. It will be great encouragement when the scale stops moving to be able to compare those inches lost to show that you ARE making progress.

I haven't really tried to eat a whole chobani yet, but I'm able to eat a whole pudding cup (although it takes some time). I think what you're encountering is about right. Liquids go down easier and faster than the thicker soft foods. I don't think the 6 oz is too much as long as you eat small bites very slowly. Just remember that when you start eating thicker, more solid food, you will have WAY more restriction. Pay more attention to how your stomach feels rather than portion size at this point in my opinion.
