Eydie,
Thinks for the advice. I finally started packing a 1 liter bottle with me and I am getting more water in. It's still not as much as I should be getting but it is better than before. I can see a difference because my urine was getting pretty dark and was freaking me out. That's a good motivator for drinking more water!
Before surgery I used to fell thirsty all day long, now I have to force myself to drink liquids, even if I get thirsty.
How have you been doing? I think you are on mushies or soft foods now right?
I can handle foods such as mashed potatoes (though I don't eat often), pudding, and cream soups very well. But canned tuna with mayo or soft cooked beans aren't working to well for me yet. It really does make a big difference when you start eating more "solid" foods even if they are chewed to mush. I can easily eat one of those little pudding cups but if I try to eat the same amount of tuna salad I will be in pain and very sick at my stomach.

Topic: RE: Unflavored Protein + Milk = Winner
I have to admit, I can't stand the taste of water since my surgery. I used to drinks tons of water before surgery but it now makes me gag. I had to start putting crystal light in it just to drink it. I have also started adding the unflavored protein powder with the crystal light because unflavored protein powder with jus****er is nasty for me.I never thought to add it to milk.
Just curious, but did milk tatse sweet to you the first time you drank it after surgery? I am drinking skim milk now, but the first time I drank it after surgery it was 1% and it had a sweet taste to it, I thought it tasted so good! Especially compared to the taste of water.

Topic: RE: Recipe Exchange? Food Advice?
I think it's a great idea! Maybe you could make a topic titled "Recipes" and "sticky' it so it always stays at top of page. I was up so late last night searching for recipes because I am getting close to eating regular foods, even though my tummy doesn't seem to tolerate certain semi solid foods such as tuna salad yet.
I wonder if you could add sub-topics to the topic, such as a section for Protein drinks, mushies, solids, etc...?
Either way, great idea!

Topic: RE: A delicate problem,
I do think it is normal. I have read where many have this problem while others have the opposite problem. I had the same problem as you and started using Miralax 2-3 days a week. It really does help me; it is gentle and works within 24 hours (usually sooner for me).

Topic: RE: Amount of food????
Hey Di,
I think your doing so great! I don't know if it will help at all. But my nut said to get Healthy request soup. Its made by campbell's. I was told I can have any of them. But I have to strain the food out of it. Its not to bad. Oh and the milk. If you don't like Skim milk. Try Silk! Yummy!!!

Take Care

Topic: RE: Surgery Dates
Hi I am new to all of this and I am having a hard time navigating on this site.  My surgery is March 29th and I just recentely started feeling very nervous.  I thought I knew everything there is to know about this surgery and then it was brought to my attention that they do not know the long term affects of this surgery so that scared me and I was hoping to find out if that is true.  Anyone who could help I would appreciate it.

It was the 5th or 6th day after surgery for me.  BUT, they started me on a stool softener at 3 days post op.  I've since stopped taking it because now I can't stop
Colace is what they gave me to get going - if you want to look into it for yourself.

And, the gas that comes with it....oh geez.  Because I finally understand the "never trust a fart" thing, I always end up running to the toilet. Sometimes, even though it's just gas, it's enough gas to blow my house off it's foundation.     I really need it to stop!
