Home and Sleeved!!!

Well I know I liked reading everyone else's post-ops when I was a pre-op so here goes my story.  I left for the hospital at5:30, had to arrive by 5:45.  Once I got there, they took me back into a room, took my weight (I was down 25lbs from my preop diet), took blood, took vitals, had me sign some papers, etc.  I did start crying a couple times but everyone was really nice.  The nurse that was taking care of me preop had had gastric bypass 9 years before at the same hospital and she looked pretty good but she calmed me down some.  I do remember being wheeled into the OR and them putting the mask on my face and I was out.

When I did wake up I remember being in a little bit of pain but nothing unbearable.  Everything after that, recovery from when I got to my room I dont remember at all.  I slept awhile that day.  I was on a morphine pump which I dont really think did much for pain but it did make me sleepy however they also gave me toradol by IV and it worked wonders.  My pain was never unbearable.  I rated it at a 6 at the most.  It mainly just felt like I had done a million situps.  The gas pain i****ting me tonight for the first time.  again not unbearable but its annoying.

All in all everything went well.  I do have one incision that is slightly red and Im taking antibiotics for.  I havent had any problems drinking anything (I was scared to eat anything at first) hot or cold.  I go back on full liquids tomorrow and on pureed foods in one week and I cant wait for that.  The thought of eating or drinking more chicken broth makes me want to gag.  So yeah Im only 2 days post op and I would do it again, the pain (which was my biggest fear) isnt that bad.  I cant say though like some people have that I havent had any pain at all.  Oh yeah and Ive been getting hiccups a lot too, dont know if thats normal.  I also managed to gain 18lbs in water weight....I was a little pissed about that but whatever.

Welcome to the loser's bench!
Wow, you lost 25 pounds from a pre op diet? That's great. With my diet I only lost 3 pounds, but every diet is different. My Dr. was more focused on shrinking the liver rather than losing weight.
I am jealous of your post op diet though! I am on clear liquids with some skim milk and added protein foe the first 3 weeks. I hate having to wait so long for pureed food.
Don't let the water weight bother you. It's just from the IV fluid and you will lose it quickly now!
Congrats on a successful surgery! I'm looking forward to reading more on your progress!
