March 2011 Sleevers
Started on the preop today
Well I have started on my pre-op eating today.
I have written myself out a tick sheet to tick off when I have eaten something so I do not eat it twice!!! and I have put it on the fridge to remind me not to eat the cheese and all my dear husband's food.
Really can't beleive that it is only 14 more sleeps till I have my surgery...
Good luck to all who have their sleeves before me and I will be reading your discussions on how it has been for you.

Good luck with this, Sooz. My best advice is to hang in there! I had a tough time around days 6-7 due to constipation issues. I had not been drinking enough water between protein shakes. It is now day 13 for me but I still have 5 "sleeps" (as you say) before surgery. I think the pre-op diet is totally boring but I know I will make it to Tuesday after which I can look forward to clear broth (lol).

My pre op is a little different to yours in the states. I have to eat a small breakfast ie 1 weetabix or a small bowl of all bran or porridge (Something high fibre) Then for lunch 50g of chicken, fish or meat or small portion of cheese 25g or 2 eggs , Salad vegetables (No dressing containing oil) and a slice of wholemeal bread or 2 crispbreads then for dinner a small portion of lean meat, chicken or fish (50g) or a small portion of low fat cheese or 2 eggs or tofu, Quorn,(75g) or beans (50g) 1 small potato or 2 tablespoons of fice or pasta and as much vegetables as you like but avoid root vegetables such as carrot turnipm parsnip and beetroot.
Each daiy I have 1/3pt skim or semi skim milk, 2 portions of fruit, Free tea, coffee, 1 low fat, sugar free yoghurt( or you can have an extra 1/3 pt milk) and 1 multivitamin tablet (Centrim or Sanatogen gold) So quite a lot really, Thank god for free vegetables. I have to do this until the night before my op. No clear fluids for 3 days. So far I have lost 4KG (about 9lb) and I am weeing like a racehorse so go liver go.
My colleague at work who is having a bypass in april and is going to a different hospital has the option of either 1000 cal diet or shakes and she can choose. I think it has to do with where you are getting this done really.
