Addictions

In the intro thread, I've noticed several people mention how hard it is to give up smoking and caffeine. Fortunately, I've never smoked and caffeine has always triggered migraines for me, so I generally stay away from it. My biggest addiction is (and probably always will be) CARBS. God, I love 'em! I find myself thinking of them all day long...it kinda makes me feel like a crack  addict, constantly jonzing for my next hit. So that's my biggest addiction. What's yours?

Cathi, I'm right there with ya on the carb addiction.  In the past I've eaten just plain old slices of bread when I get the craving.  Cakes, cookies, rolls, pastries, you name it, I'll eat it.

Oh ladies, I am so with you!  For me...carbs and  food in general....I feel like I'm never fully satisfied, never really FULL.  I know that sometimes I eat because I'm physically hungry but there are times that I just want to taste something over and over again.  I know I eat due to boredom and to give me something to do at times and can't help but think if I was really full...well, then I wouldn't need to eat any more.

Anyway, back to those evil carbs!  I've always had struggles with them.  I've never been a sweets person...more of a potato, pasta and rice kinda girl.  I could eat mounds of the stuff...how awful!  And, as we all know, the more carbs you eat, the more carbs your body wants.  Grrrr!

I'm so hopeful that this tool will help me be full and stop the desire to continue eating!  We will work through these things together!!

As I mentioned before caffeine aka coffee is one of my addictions but I have to agree with carbs mainly starchy carbs and cheese any kind of cheese!  That has been my internal struggle today!  I love my cheese!

I thought giving up the caffeine would be very hard for me..My last cup of reg coffee with sweet and low and half and half..was Sat. March 5th! I thought I would get a super duper headache..but lo and behold..I didnt..Felt tired though...

My biggest triggers are carbs and sweets...Ice Cream and I have had a relationship since I was a little girl...Any kind..and if its something I really dont like, Ill find a way to dr it up! We are talking late 50s early 60s....here..
Sugary cereal; (no not cheerios...more like Frosted Flakes)or farina or fried eggs with bacon and toast for breakfast...Went home for lunch...Sandwich.(cold cuts)..whole milk ....pass the candy store across the street from the grammar school.
After school we hit the candy store.all the cheap candy back then!..went home to Hostess cupcakes and whole milk...3pm...Dinner around 6...Macaroni...of some kind a few times a week; Homemade pizza on Fri...Fried veal cutlets or chicken cutlets...Fish rarely...Mashed potatoes...Chicken baked in the oven....Pork chops...etc..Pretty much all fattening stuff

Growing up in an Italian family with a grandmother who lived with you and loved you so much...who was an excellent cook and baker.....made my body doomed from the start..At least when you are a kid back in those days...you didnt always have a seditary life...Played outside..ran around, road bikes, gym at school...later on the dancing helped too...But, once you got past like 16, things started to catch up little by little...until...later on you get married and have to cook for someone else.

Have babies...forget to care about yourself again...Of course, didnt help I married an Italian man who owned pizzerias!! At least my kids learned how to cook...Food food always around you!

But, I could avoid the reg food pretty much if I had a dish of ice cream...or cookies or cake...
Sweets and carbs..my big enemy!!!!

Sorry, sounds like a bio!!! But Im just reviewing my life to myself!!

Part of my preop diet is staying away from carbs and OMG ITS HARD!!!!!  All I wanted tonight was a piece of bread lol.  I can have 3 servings of lean meats and/or cottage cheese, ricotta cheese and yogurt, 3 servings of fruit, 3 servings of veggies, and 2 protein drinks....I want BREAD lol!!  I feel myself being very moody the last couple of days and this is just the beginning...***sigh***
