Strawberry Dream (Pie)
2 lbs of strawberries cleaned and sliced
2 8oz packages of cream cheese (I used one fat free and one low fat)
1/2 cup of splenda
1/4 cup or more of sugar free strawberry or raspberry jam
1/2 tsp of vanilla extract
small to medium size tub of cool whip
2 low fat graham cracker pie crusts
In large bowl, place 2 pks of soft cream cheese, jam, splenda and extract. Beat on low until well mixed. Fold in cool whip until well blended. Fold in clean, sliced berries. Place pie mixture into graham cracker crusts. Refrigerate until ready to eat.
Near as I can get without crust for nutritional value, but the site I was using was not really cooperating this morning:
Calories 137; Total Fat 10.4 g; Net Carbs 7.5 g; Sugars 7 g; Protein 3.4 g
Also---remember that a WLS serving is usually about half of a regular serving.
24 days left and I still can't get away from the things that are bad for me (well- besides women)- High sugar crap!!
When I look at the threads, I see that we still have the same demons- In my case it's gourmet jelly beans! Who is that hateful person that conceived of those yummy little morsels of nothing but sugar?
What is important for all is us that we don't give up- we climb back on that horse and start again!
Even with cheating a little, I am happy to report for the first time in 25 yrs, I am under 250lbs. I really have been fighting the urge to get on the scale- the evil little box and I have really have a love/hate relationship... I was pleased with the news, but frustrated with myself because I know that if I had NOT cheated- it would have been a lot more then 5 lbs loss.
Anyway- to celebrate, I am going to Dairy Queen for lunch and having a Peanut Buster Parfait!!! It has protein (peanuts)- and dairy **** milk)- okay, okay.. I'm kidding- but this does bring up an interesting topic-
What do you make to treat yourself? I mean- recipes- I know some of you have tried different things, I've sent the different posts- what are they? What would you recommend- keeping in mind- low/no sugar and low/no carbs? Tell me what you would recommend me to have as a treat- if any of you lovely ladies, would like to make something- I would be pleased to give you my address- so you can send me some Kidding (sorta..lol).
Keep in mind... that well, I am a male.. and the KISS formula is important.. something that anyone (namely umm.. me) could make, something that is yummy that we all could share?
Let's create a thread for every recipe- so it's easier for us to print off- and then we can comment on the yummys after we created them- or ask questions.
I do want to apologize for not being around much. My home computer died recently and have only had limited access (for example- I am at the public library right now). It's great to see many of you guys trying to help each other- and the support for each other is important.
I would like to arrange a evening (since that's when most of you are available) opportunity to chat .. still open to ideas and times/dates.
Keep up the great work everyone!!

Okay - they DO make s/f jelly beans - Jelly Belly brand, specifically. However, if you've never experienced the laxative effects of sugar alcohols, do so at your own risk. This is NOT something you want to experiment with if you're going to be out in public or in close quarters. Unless it's with someone you don't want to see again!!!
I'm still doing okay - yesterday I had 4 coconut M&M's. It was a NSV for me, because in the past, I might've eaten the whole bag as the antidote for my stress. And you know what? They didn't taste as good as I wanted them to.
My bday is coming up in a couple of weeks, and there are two recipes on www.bariatriceating.com that I want to try (LOVE this website). One's for brownies and the other is for s/f red velvet cake. I also thought about, since strawberries are starting to be plentiful, making a s/f sponge cake and topping it with strawberries and Splenda sweetened whipped cream.
You can STILL treat yourself - it just requires a bit more creativity than in the past.
I'm sorry I haven't upheld my end of this group, either, Bri - as you know, things are just crazy for me right now! I was happy to see, though, that we hit member #50 this morning!!! Woo-hoo!!!
Hugs,
T

LV'N MY RNY. WORKING FOR ME BECAUSE I WORK FOR IT.
I'm a habitual low carber most of the time. A true carnivore of the soul. I do get the forbidden fruit thing at times but I went to the store twice while hungry. Cardinal sin.
I came out with crap I did not even eat pre op. Stuff I'd never seen before 2010. Did you know there are 100 cal eskimo pies? I'd never eaten a regular eskimo pie in my life. I don't eat ice cream But, they were out of my sf creamsicles and I was starving... They also did not have my brand of pork rinds so I grabbed the ff pringles...
See the trend? How sick is that. If I was not hungry I would have left with nothing. Major rule: Shop only with a full pouch cause once its in the house, consider it down my gut, lol.

"I can eat or do anything I want to - as long as I am willing to deal with the consequences"
"Failure is not falling down, It is not getting up once you fell... So pick yourself up, dust yourself off, and start all over again...."
Revising it may be a good choice.
I will give you an idea on mine:
1. I know I could not give nuts or wine, or my dark chocolate. That items - beside being good for me - are my rewards and a bit of indulgent during the week or days. So - I picked items that I like - but that I do not need. Like whipped cream (It is OK for us but nutritionally empty and I can live without it). Also - meat son Friday - and if I can (see the condition?) also on Wednesday evening.
Making realistic goals - are better for me that goals that I will fail at - a small steps at a time.
So maybe - instead of low or no carbs - limit just the really bad ones - and allow yourself some - i.e after lunch or after a dinner - as long as you provided your body with all nutrition and vitamins. - like a reward... So - you are not deprived - but - since you know you can have some- every day - that may allow you not to stress over it.
I.e. I am "allowed" dark (85% - 90%) chocolate. And some days I will have it - or not. I keep it in the cabinet, in a small box, broken in small pieces, and when I want some - I still can think about - how much do I want - and by the time I get it from my box - I know if I want it from hunger - or just because I want a treat.
Nuts are in a freezer - so If I want some - It is a whole procedure to get them out. LOL. Gives me time to think.
And by now - you know better- never shop hungry. Have water, or a protein bar. You have no idea how often once in a store I realized I was hungry - and got a prot bar, or protein drink, or even water - open in the store - and ate/drank it right there - even before paying for it (saved wrapper and paid for them at the end). I have never been 'reprimanded" by a store. And if ever anyone approach me - I can tell- hey, I have a hypoglycemia - I either eat it right now - or you may need to call paramedics - so- I chose to eat and I will pay later... ". Just an idea. Saved me from buying or eating something not so good.

Good luck. I love them. I try to keep them in the freezer at all time. I use the mid size muffin forms - the 12 form. 2 bites - my brealfast or brunch.
