Colon Resection after prior gastric by pass

My name is Tom. I had gastric by pass surgery in July 2006. I was almost 300 pounds, diabetic, taking over 14 pills a day due to many other issues. Got down to 167 pounds at my best. Have gained back about 35 pounds. Staying right around 195 to 200. Still feel great except I have been having other stomach issues the last year. Diverticulitis. Two attacks put me in the hospital in a 4 month period. I am once again having the pains relating to this issue. I am going to the gastro doc tomorrow. I was told I might have to get a colon resection. I am not happy about it, scared and worried. The one thing I worry about is will they mess up my gastric by pass? Will they do the resection correctly? I do not want and could not handle emotionally having a colostomy bag. I am only 51. I hope to get back on track and lose the 35 pounds I put on. I miss that full feeling and slight pain as a warning I use to have. Can eat anything now and it is hard to control at times. Need a good support group. Moved from FL two years ago to GA and nothing close to my home. MY Dr. in FL was awesome. Wish he was here in GA. Dr. Brett Cohen. I can't find a decent surgeon here. Well guess I better get off of here. Please say a prayer for me.
