Hello Kitchener Group!  I am starting this support group as a result of much interest by people I have meet in the past year who have gone through this WLS surgery.  Whether good results or not so wonderful results; problems resulting because of your surgery or not - all are welcome.  I can't wait to meet more beautiful people through this endeavor!
My personal story has been particularly good.  Surgery was March 28, 2002.  I have attained my goal weight of 135 lbs and then bounced back up and am sitting very contentedly at 145 lbs currently and have held that for some time now.  I have very few complications except I take B12 shots monthly and and iron shot weekly in the rump!  Generally I am in great health.
For 3 years running, while I lived in MIchigan; I was asked by my family physician to speak to a group of doctors learning about the surgery and wanted to know how to help their patients get through the process.  The first year I spoke for 10 minutes and was one of six guests who had all had the surgery.  That resulted in 30 minutes of my answering questions in all forms from those doctors.  I was told there would be 5 to 10 doctors.  The next year I was the guest speaker on my own.  I spoke for 30 minutes and answered questions for almost an hour and 75 doctors attended.  The third year was the same.
I love helping people.  I am by no means a professional nor do I have a claim to fame but want to facilitate a group of people who desperately want to be heard.  The stories are sometimes hard to hear but they need to be heard.
I will do my best to use my knowledge and look for new knowledge during the process.
