Marge,

I am not sure how long you should wait.  I would ask your lung doctor.  Ask for my non-medical advice I would wait about a month.  I am still not wearing mine.  To be honest I am not sure if I ever will again.  I go into panic attacks when I see it.  I guess I now have CPAP PTSD.  LOL :)

Please keep me updated on your progress.  Do ask about the stapels but I would not think that they had nickel in them.  I never asked about that either.  I was not allergic to anything until after this long stay in the hospital.  I guess the large doses of medication did me in and I can no longer have sulfa.

Thanks Hansi,

I appreciate your reply.  I am glad you are doing better and finding your way.  I also use CPAP and did not know that you could not use it after surgery.  That is good information.  How long should you wait? Also, I just remembered today that I am allergic to nickel and am concerned about the metal content of the surgical staples.  I will have to check that with my doctor.

I know it is not a quick fix or a cure all but what I have been doing for the last 45 years has not worked either.  I am ready to have a new life.

Thanks again!  Get better and better.

Marge,

Please do not be scared.  I mean we all are when we are going in for a surgery like this but my problems were a freak accident caused by wearing my CPAP so soon after surgery.  I am doing much better and I am now able to eat and drink.  I got the feeding tube out the other day, so I am finally own my own.  It is like starting over from the very beginning again and it really is not hard now!  I love broccoli and cheese soup and it provides me with some protein.  We also eat homemade protein bars and even my children love them.  Sometimes they eat them all before my husband and I get any.  I am taking things slow and easy.

If you ever want to talk just let me know,  I will be happy to explain what has happened.  Please know that when I did the original vertical sleeve the recovery for me was very easy and I was out driving and shopping just a couple of days later.  A lady that surgery on the same day (We are now friends) has done so well and is down 66 lbs. since July 8th!!!  She has never had a problem and feels wonderful.  My husband had his surgery on May 4th and is down 55 lbs. and has never had a problem either.  My problem was my fault.  Just do not go into it blindly thinking it is a quick fix.  It is still work but it does work!

Hugs,
Hansi

Hi Hansi and all,

Wow!  it sounds like you have been through a lot.  I am scheduled for surgery October 17.  I am scared, excited, happy, anxious and did I say scared after reading your post?  After 40+ years of yo yo diets I know that does not work for me.

Best to you all.

Sorry I did not get back to you sooner.  I had surgery on July 8th and the my stomach ruptured on July 15th.  It has been a long road and I am finally home from the hospital after about 20 days in.  I knew this was a risk, just never thought it would happen to me.  LOL That is what I get.

So, right now I am a month out and only down a litle over 20 lbs.  This is fine with me, since my goal right this mimute is to get well.  My husband had surgery on May 4th and is down over 55 lbs.  I am so proud of him!

I hope you are doing well and progressing perfectly!
