Newbie

I am an incest survivor and have been addicted to food all my life for self medicating.  I have had my surgery and I will be post op one month on June 11 2010.  I have had all kinds of crazy emotions and battles between my brain and my stomach...this is not an easy road nor is it a fix all...food is a deadly drug when not used properly...the worst part is, food is a necessity and easy to abuse since it is accepted and it seems like all events focus and plan all around food.  You know you are addicted when you go and hide to eat something in secret.  Getting to the root of the addiction is a very painful thing, but it feels wonderful once you start feeling some freedom and strength over your own life...no longer powerless.  Please feel free to look over my blogs I think I just have 3 of them.

Hello Marie,

It just breaks my heart to hear about children being molested especially when it's done by a parent that should b protecting the children...i think u are doing quite well after all that u have been through, some ppl never get over what happened to them and end up homeless or destroyed completely...u on the other hand are dealing w/ your emotions and experience and getting it together through all of the pain...Food is most definitely a drug of choice for most ppl dealing w/ emotional issues, the problem w/ that is we get to the point that we're obese and struggling w/ weight but the food is so readily available it's tough avoiding it and dangerous to avoid as well, we need food to survive!!! 
Eating in secret Yeah i've been there done that, or ordering enough for 2 pretending the other meal is for someone else...u r right that's when u definitely know u have a problem...i'm happy for u, u are starting to feel free no longer powerless...that's a huge accomplishment so Ku dos to u!!!
