I'll mention it on the Band Grads board.

Highest 290, Banded - 248   Lowest 139 (too thin!). Comfort zone 155-165.

Happily banded since May 2006.  Regain of 28lbs 2013-14.  ALL GONE!

But some has returned! Up to 175, argh! Off we go again,

I'll repost on main board again.....I just think this is a touchy subject for a lot of people.... I think it hits closer to home for some who are struggling and in denial....

I invited some folks *****ally need to be here and  got some curt thanks but no thanks....

I really like the idea of quality vs quantity....

Feel free to invite others ...this was started by me but in no way "my " board, it's for everyone with a positive mind set

I wondered since there is a Grads board that is not really active if this one would make it.  I just want a place to go that has the problems/questions that are more in tune with my life at 3 years out, I know I'm not alone in my thinking, so I hope some of the 'old timers' will come on and stay on here.

Just seems rather sad that we haven't got to a full page yet! So I thought I would post this!!!

Looking at the WLS Grads board  - that is very quiet, just one or two regular posters - perhaps people just don't want this sort of group?  Shame if that is so! The surgery specific Band Grads group is reasonably active, nothing like the main surgery boards but quite a fair number of regular posters - I would have thought people would like the idea of a no-war general board.

Curiouscat7 - is it worth posting about it again on other boards? I know that there are people like me who have left other boards because of drama and unpleasantness. I am sure that if they know about this group they might come over.

I really like hearing about other surgeries - at a recent get-together in London, one stray RNY person joined us bandsters! And it was great - really added to our meeting!

Not quite sure what cheese doodles are - but if they are some sort of ready made cheesy snack - then they wouldn't tempt me!  Mow a nice plate of fresh cheeses and crackers!! After my cheesecake, of course.

Although I have to say that my tastes have changed. When I was at the Ch. Fact., I didn't finish my slice - not because I was too full, it slid down nicely! Just too sweet! Pre-wls I would have wanted a second slice!

Personally don't like the Cheesecake factory..... too large a portions and there is better food on the planet....

the Cheesecake is never a tempt as I wasn't a sweet eater to begin with...and would eat cheesecake maybe once a year

and BTW tonite I have a dinner party and am bringing a cheesecake...but I still won't eat it.... !! I'm just not into it.... now if they had cheez doodles at the party I'd be in trouble...!

I guess mine will be based on kidney function test. My whole post-op diet and vitamin supplementation has been kind of a hybrid between what the kidney doctor wants and the Rny doctor wants. It's a balancing act.

Topic: Beta Carotene
I had labs done back in July and was told to add 'greens, oranges and yellows' to my diet (my doc likes me to try getting what I need with food first).  My A's not fabulous but my carotene was getting a bit low, I had already been taking dry A every once in awhile, but I bumpted that up to a few times a week and I also added spinach, sweet potatoes, pumpkin seeds, carrots, egg yolks....and still my carotene levels dropped from July.

I went on Vitalady's site last night thinking she'd have some beta carotene for me to buy but nope, none, just A, well I already take a dry A and my doc says that you can get too much A and still have low carotene levels, so he just wants me to keep my A the way I've been doing it and to add carotene.  My question is, does anyone take Beta Carotene?  Where do you get it, just locally, or is there a 'special' one for us RNY'ers???

Any input would be appreciated,

Edie
