Topic: How to kickstart weight loss after 18 months
Hello all.. I am a RNY'er that has been stalled for about 8 months  - yes 8 months.

I find that I am very good at maintaining my weight at 196 but can't seem to get down below that.  I work out 5 times a week - 3 days of weight training and 2 days with cardio.

I don't always follow the rules - I do drink diet coke again, but only if I have my 64 oz of water as well.  I eat carbs and sugar with very little dumping - but I try to do this in moderation.

At about 1 year out I quit doing daily protein shakes, but most days do get 40-60 grams of protein in.

My calorie intake is about 1,200-1,400 most days.

I've tried eating lower calories - 800 a day and higher - 2000 a day and no weight loss.  I've bumped the protein to 100-120 a day and no weight loss.

Any one else stuck like this?  Any suggestions?  Thanks for your input!

Dr. Benn gave me an incredible tool.. and I intend to make the most out of it!!

Me too ... to all of the above LOL ... I give myself a shot of mental geritol to get myself up and going ... it gets harder and harder .. I had to FORCE myself this morning ...had a late start because I came home and crashed and woke up around midnight and could not go back to sleep until about 2 or so so I set the alarm to 4:30 and went galloping out there like an old fool ... it does give me a second wind though and energy to get through the day ...but I really have to give myself that mental kick to get in gear....

Congrats on the dress sizes ... and enjoy the gym ... LOL

Ye gods! I feel tired just reading your post! Over the last 8 weeks, I have been working myself silly trying to meet a deadline for losing 2 dress sizes. I made that deadline and now I am going to have to force myself back to the gym!

I HATE STRUCTURED EXERCISE. I LOATHE RUNNING.  I HATE GETTING HOT AND SWEATY. I HATE GOING OUT IN THE COLD TO GO TO THE GYM.

Kate

Highest 290, Banded - 248   Lowest 139 (too thin!). Comfort zone 155-165.

Happily banded since May 2006.  Regain of 28lbs 2013-14.  ALL GONE!

But some has returned! Up to 175, argh! Off we go again,

Most of the time I give myself a shot of mental geritol to get my arse in gear LOL ...I make myself do it even when I don't feel like it ... once I start I am okay though ... other times I just look forward to getting out there and running ... it is quite invigorating .... An other times my daughter nags me to tag along with her and I go and end up having fun .. needless to say I cannot keep up with her so I stand in the back and try to disappear ... LOL...

Seriously though I am no spring chicken and I can remember how horrible I felt before and how hard it was to get around especially with the horrible joint pains especially in my knees ... that is enough to have me jump up and get started ... food wise only one glimpse at my DHs feet or what is left of them - half of one foot is gone and the other has no toes ... and it is enough for me not to ever contemplate sugar or bad carbs or any junk ever .. I hate what the complications of diabetes in my spouse and myself has cost us and more than anything else ... there is not a piece of pastry out there calling my name that would not have me recall the grueling years of getting this man through dialysis and waiting for an organ to replace both his shutdown kidneys ... so I guess I am cured by fear ... to think that my diabetes is in remission I will do everything in my power to keep it that way ... I have no choice ...I do not want to deal with any complications that I can avoid...

Have a great day too!!!! I swear by boiled rosemary washes for the face and hair ... but then I just love my mom's and nana's old fashioned remedies ... did not like them much growing up though LOL ... I guess it all comes back when 53 is knocking at the door? LOL...

My friend Allyson and others celebrate hanukkah and we enjoy hearing all about their celebration ... and then we get both the Menorah and the Christmas tree here in our sitting area at work... it is all so beautiful and I love love love when Allyson shares all her traditions ... plus she brings in some real cool yummy stuff that we all love to eat too...

Congrats on the interviews ... you are going to do great!!! plus those 53 can easily be reversed to 35 you look so youthful and so full of life and energy I would never have guessed for a minute we are in the same age group ... I have you beat by a few months...

You need one of our blow dryers sista!!!! would dry and straighten your hair in under a minute ...

Have a great day ... good luck on your interviews!!! Happy Hanukkah ... enjoy it all!!!

Oh Kate, your birthday week sounds amazing!!  It's wonderful to have family close by to celebrate with you.  Its all about creating wonderful memories!!

I love surprise birthday parties.  Years ago I arranged a surprise 40th party weekend away with my husband's (large) family in the Berkshires.  It was quite wonderful.

I took a driving vacation in Wales (and Scotland and England) with a girlfriend a bunch of years ago.  It was so quaint and charming and fun - think Thelma and Louise.  Each night we stayed at different wonderful bed and breakfasts and during the days we would check out all kinds of castles.

Be sure to tell us more as the birthday approaches.
