Hi,

I just recently hit what I believe is the goal wt that is right for me... so how do you maintain it?

For me it's stepping on the scale every AM... reading motivational books.... and doing a lot of self talking

So what keeps you successful.........

Thanks Lauren for starting this group.

I definitely step on the scale every morning.  I am usually within a good range.  I prefer to be down a couple of pounds but if I go above five pounds from my bottom number I try to increase my exercise or watch my carbos more closely.  Stuff like that.  And within a few days I'll be back to my average number.  Last december I went up 10 pounds and it took me a bit longer to get the weight off. Dont want to do that again.  Nothing stupendous.  I also eat grapefruit every morning.  Makes me poop.. (I dont know you guys that well (or at all) to tell you that little secret...

What you said... except I try to weigh once a week. And have a range +/- 3 lbs that is acceptable weight.
I also measure my "maintenance by my clothes size".  i gained 2 lbs - but got "smaller" so that was not an issue.
- and last but not least - the dumping and RH.  If I am not very careful what I eat and how often - I get really bad RH.  That usually make me sick for 3-5 days.  It is a good reminder of what not to do.   When my belly gets distended from all the carbs and it hurts - it is a great reminder that I need to follow the rules...

Thanks for starting this group.  I get so sick of, help I've stalled at 3 weeks out, posts :).

I've re-gained about 18 lbs and am working towards reversing that.  I'm cutting way back on 'white' and getting back into exercise.

My problem is work, today alone we received a container of peanut butter stuffed pretzels and 2 bags of left over Halloween candy :(, it's just so hard.  I dump, but I can easily have 2 fun size'd candy bars and I know it, so I'm trying to stay out of the kitchen, but that's where the Kurieg and water are so if I want to keep up on my fluids I have to walk in there a few times a day.  My bigger fear is with the holiday's coming up it's only going to get worse, so I've got to find my willpower and get used to doing the right thing again.

Hi Edie,

Glad you are here.... along with my friend Madcow we knew for quite a while we needed a place for us to address issues w/out answering the same questions ad naseum.

I work from home so it can be a challenge when my office is a hallway away from my office.... I really concentrate on only keeping healthy snacks around. Doesn't always work that way.... I have a hubby who is overwt...

I just limit myself to a treat once in while and self talk to myself this is what I need to do...if someone was in my head they would think I was looney. So I guess I would just grab the coffee/water and in my mind tell myself this is what I need to do...this snack, candy bar etc is not important....I am important....

CC,

I put a 'before' pic of myself on the front of my desk so that I look at it everyday, problem is that once it's been there awhile I don't see it you know?  Anyways, last week I did really good (even though home made bread a donuts were brought in), I know I'll get back on track, it's only Tuesday right!

I'm always monkeying around with what works. Moving works. When I move I maintain or lose weight. It's harder now that it's darker. I need a more ferocious dog to walk.
Thanks for starting this group.

Hi Deb

I've always said I need a dog to walk... have two lazy cats. It doesn't help my excerise regime

I need to get back into a routine too but it is getting cold quick here in Atlanta.... 45 deg today !!!!
