Thank you members for today's... February 21, 2009 9:34 am Dear Members,
Be the first to leave a comment.I hope you enjoyed today's meeting as much as I did. If you were there, thank you for attending and participating. I enjoyed seeing so many new faces. Since we talked about Body Image and the Fat Brain, spend the next month observing your thoughts and actions and see if that darn ole Fat Brain surfaces from time-to-time and/or if your Body Image adjusts (good or bad) or is holding you back from something. Then again, the Fat Brain could be holding you back. For example, are you afraid to ride a horse because your Fat Brain is telling you "you're too fat to ride it...you'll break it," or is your Body Image distorted in that you still see yourself at your pre-op heaviest when in fact you are 100+ pounds lighter and could easily climb up onto that horse and ride him/her? Enjoy the samples. If you need information about the samples you received today, especially those that did not have instructions on them, please contact Jaclyn Thomas at [email protected]. If you can remember, when you are done reading the OH Magazines, bring them back next month so other members can read them too. Recycle, Baby. Thank you. I remain humbled, impressed and in awe of how much weight we collectively and individually have lost. Yet another meeting where our group together has lost over a TON! Congrats to you! See you next month, Kimberlee MacVicar
Events page won't accept... February 19, 2009 4:47 am Wanted to let you know that OH continues to have a "bug" in its Events page in that when you try to RSVP to an upcoming event, a message pops up telling you the event has passed. Don't stress about this as registration is not required to attend our in-person meetings. Please just show up!
Be the first to leave a comment.Hopefully this will be fixed in the future, but for now, the overhaul of the OH website is bound to have bugs still hidden in places. Let me know if you find other bugs along your OH journey. Thanks, Kimberlee
Congrats to Maribeth! February 13, 2009 2:39 am Maribeth is featured in the current issue of OH Magazine's "Before & After" Section!! If you have a subscription, be sure to check out this section. We'll have copies of the issue on-hand at our February meeting so come get your copy! Maybe Maribeth will autograph yours!! tee hee
Be the first to leave a comment.A big Shout Out to Maribeth on her 148 pound weight loss too! Congrats again, Kimberlee
Is there such a thing as Diet A.D.D.?
February 5, 2009 12:13 pm This is a question I recently stubbled upon when I noticed that in my hot desire to get this pregnancy weight off (she's now 8 months old and this extra 15 is still sitting there), I have jumped from one diet book on my shelf or online to another without really ever starting any of them. Sort of like "ok, I've read that book, what's next?" I even have gotten all excited about a certain plan only for it to last perhaps one meal or one day and then I'm thinking about the next plan. In my defense on one piece of this, all except one says that if you're nursing (I am), you shouldn't do this diet... but I think these plans are just helping me to not try. Moving on...
Be the first to leave a comment. On a serious note, I wonder if there is such a thing as "Diet A.D.D" since my thoughts jump from one plan to another faster than I can turn the pages a book. Then today, I received the latest copy of of Obesity Action Coalition's magazine and there was an article about "Food Addicts in Recovery Anonymous." Similar to AA and OA, it deals with food addictions both for the over- and underweight folks out there. What really spiked my curiosity was a sidebar to the article titled "The 20 Questions: Are you a food addict?" (If you say "yes" to any of those questions, you might have a food addiction.) I didn't count how many times I said "yes," but a big lightbulb went off over my head in that a good amount of those questions seemed to relate to my question of Diet A.D.D. Let me know if you've ever attended one of their meetings, as I'm totally curious as I wonder if their message could help our group from time-to-time as such food addiction-themed issues surface for us. There actually is one a block from my home that meets on a weekday morning (don't know if I can bring the baby, doubtful), so we'll see if I get the guts enough to check it out. Their 12 steps have too much God referenced in them so I'm not sure how comfortable I would be going in there as a non-Christian to a church setting no less. Blah blah...am I already talking myself out of it, thinking of the next plan of action? busted!! Let me know what you know. For quicker reference for you, I added their webpage to our Links page. Check it out. In Peace, Kimberlee |
