Topic: Goals anyone (Post about the Past)
"A goal without a plan is just a wish." -Antoine De Saint-Exupery
If we ask people about their goals in life, we may get quick and precise responses -to find a certain kind of employment, to start a business, to learn to play and instrument, to retire early.  But many of those same people have no idea how they will accomplish their goals.
Having goals is important.  Without goas, we don't know where we're headed.  But having a goal is easy; planning to achieve it is the hard part.  What's the firs step?  How long will it take to reach the goal?  What kinds of effort will we need to make?  How likely is success?  Who can help?

Challenge: Choose one of your goals and lay out a plan to acompli**** step by step.

Today I plan to review my goals from last month and pick one I haven't started working on yet and make a plan.

Ok folks time to talk about Protein.  We all know we need it.  I decided to ask one question today.

What is a creative way you have found to get your Protein in?

I don't know how creative it is but it sure is practical.  I use AnyWhey in my coffee.  I usually drink at least one of the many cups of coffee I drink with one scoop of the AnyWhey.  It give me 17 grams of protein in one whack.  It has little to no taste and mixes well with hot liquids.  I can usually find it at either GNC or Vitamin Shop.

Kat,
I like to think of goals as things to strive towards not necessarily things I have to accomplish in a fixed set of time.  I will say having them written down helps keep me focused on what I am trying to accomplish.  Also when you are setting your goals break them down into baby steps, as Tawnya likes to say, and just focus on meeting the baby steps.  As you start accomplishing the little things it seems to get easier and easier.  I have always been good at having New Years resolutions but have never been good at completing them.  That is why I decided to take a different approach.  Try setting just one goal to strive towards and thinking of baby steps to get there.  Start working on those baby steps one at a time and boom before you know it you have completed a goal.  I have a copy of Tawnya's storyboard concept I would be happy to bring it tonight to the meeting.

Great job!  Anything that keeps your mind on it.  Even when life gets busy it is good to have little reminders around.  Something on your desk perhaps or something in your car.  Wherever life is rearing its ugly head is where you should put it. Maybe a prayer or bible verse where you can see it.  I know that helps me.  The Sunday School class will certainly help.

Topic: Current Issues
So I was out doing my run today and remembered I needed to post about our current topic of the month.  How perfect that I thought of it while I was running right?  So I will start this thread with a disclaimer: (You know it is going to be good when it is started with a disclaimer) I am in no way trying to be arrogant.  I do however want to set the bar high and challenge each of you!
Lots of people ask me how I have been such a success and I have one answer for them, EXERCISE!  It is a requirement people!  My doctor explained it like this at one of his seminars:  Think of this process as a stool.  There are three legs to this stool and if one of the legs is missing the stool will not support you.  One leg is your tool, one is diet, the other is exercise.  I took this analogy and changed it just a little.  Mine is a chair with four legs.  Still the same principle, if one leg is missing the chair will not hold you up.  My fourth leg is, of course, support groups but I digress.
What we are discussing here today is the exercise leg.  I have heard it time and time again, I don't have time, My back hurts, my knees hurt, etc...  You get the point.  If we look for an excuse we will find one.  When I started this process I started exercising from the beginning.  It hasn't always been easy but I do it.  When I first started walk/running my hips hurt so bad.  I kept it up and eventually guess what, my hips stopped hurting.  I just went and ran 6 miles with no problems.  I am NOT suggesting that everyone start running.  I know that people do have legitimate reasons for not being able to run one being that they don't like it.  Running isn't for everyone.  What I am suggesting is that you find something that requires movement.  Pick an amount of time (5 min, 10 min, 30 min).  Do that exercise for that amount of time at least once a week.  Each week challenge yourself.  Up the time, up the distance, do it more than once a week.  Whatever works best for you but do it.  Start today!

All that being said the question I want to ask is:
What do you plan on doing?

Commit yourself to yourself!
Love ya,
Jenn

I wasn't there last month but I wanted to tell you I am sorry you have been sick this past week and I am looking forward to going to Kathy's tomorrow night.

As for goals...my first goal has to be to set goals that I want to stick to.  I hate setting goals and have mostly floated along on what I want out of life or to do withouit setting specific goals.  It wasn't something I was taught as a child and something I have balked out and had difficulty wtih as an adult.  It's kind of like Amy said....when I start setting goals, life rears it's ugly head.

Along those same lines, I was recently invited to church with my mom and decided that I need to start focusing more on my daily walk.  This includes attending church, reading my Bible, and praying daily.

It's been going well for the most part although a few times, my busy life rears it's ugly head and interrupts my schedule.  However, to keep me on track, I am planning to attend the women's Sunday School class and possibly start singing with the worship team.

Topic: Passion in the Past!
So I know it isn't Monday but since I missed Monday I thought I would go ahead and post today!  Our past months topic was goals for 2009 and how to obtain them.  At the meeting we all wrote down our goals.  They say that writing them down makes you more prone to keep up with them so if you haven't done that then my challange to you is to do it now!!!

What is one goal and what will you do to make it a reality?

For those that already wrote them out and have a plan,

Hows it going for you?

I have a super long list of goals and have been working on a lot of them.  I keep them posted on my bulletin board I have in my office by my computer so I see them everyday.  Some will take more time but thats ok.  One of the goals that I have focused on in great detail was my goal to work on prayer life.  I have done this almost every single day since the beginning of January.  I write in a journel and I read scripture and I have been reading spiritual books.  All of these things have helped me work on praying more.

Let me hear from you!
