Topic: RE: Prepare for the New Year now !
I got new stainless steel water bottles for Christmas! I love these and am excited to have something new to "freshen up" my time at the gym.
Sometime this weekend I'm going to download all of the information from my Polar heart rate monitor and compare my stats for 2009. The information will give me some additional motivation as I set my 2010 goals. I'll post later to let you know my findings and we'll get a 2010 goals thread going soon.
Let me her from you. And you newbies, please post so that we can get to know you.

Topic: Prepare for the New Year now !
Put your thinking hat on. Do not let the holiday's pass you by only to wake up on Janurary 1 without any plan to get your body and mind out of holiday mode.
Print your gym's hours and their aerobics schedule. Make a shopping list for bariatric friendly foods. Pull out some recipes that you like. Sign up for a free fitday account, or get a calorie counter book. Make a copy of your medical team's meal plan. Stock up on vitamins. Schedule a workout with a buddy. Get a new journal to track your progress. Buys some stickers to put in your journal for a reward when you work out, stick to plan, take your vitamins or hit a goal.
Put all of this in a folder that you can open on the 1st and be ready to hit the ground running.
What are you doing to kick start 2010 and to be the healthiest you you can be?

Topic: December Meeting - Followup
We had a really nice visit yesterday. For those who have not made it to our new venue, it is spectacular! Lots of room, large comfy chairs, and tables for all of our junk. I love it!
Yesterday we discussed the upcoming holidays and how to best manage those who will be celebrating with us, asking and teaching them how to help us make it through the upcoming festivities and still remain on plan. Thanks to George and Mary for sharing their experience of holiday's past. I'm sure newbie Kim will put some of those tools to good use.
In January we're planning to meet on Sunday the 10th at 3pm. Topic of discussion will be BACK ON TRACK. And in keeping with thqat theme I'd love if everyone would bring in the plate and fork/spoon they typically use for dinner. Part of the discussion will be on portion sizes and this will help us to really develop some ideas and game plans for the new year.
Mary has agreed to take on the task of scrapbooking our group. It was really inspiring to look at before pictures yesterday and see where we came from. It is a powerful motivator to remember where you have been. Thank you, Mary, for taking on the task.
We discussed some other options for 2010 topics, but I'd love to hear from anyone who was unable to come. Please post here and let me know your thoughts. Also if you have a gift or speciality and would like to lead a meeting and share your knowledge, please let me know. I love learning new things!
Thank to you all for such a success full 2009. I'm really looking forward to an exciting 2010 and spending more time with you.

Grand Prairie Public Library - Conference Room
This is an open meeting - all surgeries past present or future are welcome to attend as your significant others or any support buddy/family member. I only caution against children as the topics can sometimes be of an adult nature.
Topic: Managing Relationships Through the Holidays
Please, please, please print out a before and a current picture and bring them with you to the meeting. I want us all to celebrate where we are, where we have come from and where we are going. It would be great to put all of our pictures in a group album/scrapbook that can be shown at our meetings. If anyone has the gift of scrapbooking and would like to take this on, I would be very greatful for the assistance. I even have some materials for the project.
Be thinking, too, about what you want/need from your support group. I want to hear ideas for 2010!!
I can'**** to see you all!!
Please RSVP so that I can have enough materials for everyone.
