I am also with Kaiser and it is so odd that other kaisers do things different. up north their class is only 12 weeks. I love my class though because I am getting to know others that will be my support group also.
I am only 7 weeks away from finishing, I promise it goes by fast. I am really excited about this step I have had to take because it is making me deal with my head hunger and what is real and not real in eating issues. Dont think I will lose my 10% before done because I gained weight before starting the program. I had to wait many months before starting the class.

I just wanted let any newbies with Kaiser insurance know that I completed the class mid August and I have a surgery date of 11/16/09. So it takes approximately 3 mos for the entire process after you complete your classes. I've heard stories that it could be completed as early as 2 mos. I dont know anyone personally that's done it that fast. Good luck everyone.

Thanks for keeping me posted. I am going to start walking around the building so I can build up to the 5 times. Go figure I can go to cycle class for an hour but walking is a pain.

Did my 5 laps and was fine. I have my ultrasound, ekg, & blood work tomorrow. THen I should be done with Kaiser's requirements. Next I should be referred to Pacific Bariatric and finally get to meet my surgeon.

Courtney is very nice. My counselor was Nancy. But, yes, your process does go quicker if you loose the 10%. We only had one person in our group that lost 10+% but she was still on the fence about the surgery. So far no one has had it done yet.
