Topic: RESULTS VISIT!
Just wanted you all to say a little prayer for me.

I go for my results visit on Tuesday morning.
Just want you all to keep me in your thoughts.

Let's believe that my insurance will be approved and I will receive a close surgery date. I am so ready to get on the Losers Bench.

According to the chart for weight for my body type, I only have to lose 107 lbs to get to my ideal weight.

Thanks again for all the ongoing support. This is by far the best website I've ever visited. At times, I think it's more addictive than myspace.

Hope everyone has a wonderful memorial day! And to any of you that know a soldier, tell them Thank You for everything that they do.

With Love~

Topic: RE: Introductions
HI! My name is Robyn and I am 3 months out from a Lap RNY. I started out weighing 495 pounds and as of my 3 month checkup, I am now 415! Now, if I were to work harder, I would lose a lot more and faster. I am not actually trying too hard to lose this weight right now. Well, I am but I just can't get myself to exercising properly.

I had my surgery at the Medical University of South Carolina Ashley River Tower hospital. This hospital was designed for cardiac and digestive disease patients. It has been designed for the overweight patient with wider chairs, wider beds, etc.

I chose to have this surgery to save my life. I felt as if I was living on borrowed time. Now, I see the weight dropping off and am getting glimpses of the real me under all of this weight. The me I remember so well! I am starting to feel like I just might have a few good years left in me!

I joined this group in the hopes that I can find others to help me with questions. I also hope to be able to provide that same support to others. For example, I am trying to find an alternative sweetener. I am allergic to aspartame and nutrasweet. I use splenda but it seems to have a bad effect on me also. So I am open to suggestions!

Topic: I had my 2 year follow up appointment
While my actual 2 year 'surgiversary' isn't until June 5th, I had my 2 year follow-up appointment with my surgeon, Dr. Eric DeMaria. My BP was 102/60 and my weight was 142. Dr. DeMaria beamed and was absolutely delighted. He said I looked the picture of health and he could be more pleased with my progress and the fact that I had maintained my weight loss. He kept going on and on about how 'great' I looked. I have to admit that it felt good.

I told Dr. DeMaria, that I am delighted with my outcome and the incredible changes in my quality of life, including my slimmer, trimmer body. I also told him that I would do it all over again even if I hadn't lost the weight, if the only benefit had been resolving my type 2 diabetes and managing my hemochromatosis.

I told him that while the first year was so focused on losing the weight, this second year has been a journey of a different sort. The second year has caused me to really look at the behaviors and coping mechanisms I have developed over a lifetime that have contributed to the obesity that drove me to have WLS. I am having some serious challenges and have noticed 'lapses' into dangerous behaviors. I discussed my concerns about them and am addressing them with a support group I started based on the 'Beck Diet Solution' books.

I realize that my new 'normal' weight is a tenuous thing that has to be nurtured and cared for if I want to maintain it.

Topic: RE: 4 days out and having all kinds of emotions
I had my first 'meltdown' when I was about 10 days out and another when I was about a month or 6 weeks out. I couldn't believe I'd done this 'to' myself. Now, I'm so very glad that I've done this 'for' myself. I promise that this too shall pass. It won't always be like this. It does get better, much better. You'll have better days and sometimes, you'll have hard days, but it gets sooo much better. Just hang in there. Take it a day at a time. Sip, sip, sip constantly... This too will get better, but during the first few weeks and months staying hydrated and getting the protein in is nearly a full-time job.
