Hi Joyce,

If you look at the dark blue drop down menu bar that goes across the top of the screen you'll see a 'tab' that says 'events'. Click on that and it will display the upcoming OH Conferences. I'm not sure where in CA, but there will be a conference somewhere in CA in 2010.

It's a small world. I'm from the Almaden Valley in the south bay, near Los Gatos. We moved to Raleigh NC about 7 years ago, but I'll always be a California girl at heart. I try to visit at least once a year or so because my sons, mother, sister, in-laws and friends live there. Maybe we can see one another on one of my visits.

Thanks for the update. I am sure all that attended had a great time. How do I find out about a conference that would be in my area, or maybe just alittle closer to home. I live in  California about 30 minutes south of San Francisco. Thank for your never ending help.

Topic: RNY Revision
Hello:  I just joined the group.  I'm interested in obtaining information from anyone in the group who has had an RNY revision.  I had my surgery in 4/03, obtained my goal weight in 2005 and started regaining weight after I had four knee surgeries and was unable to do my routine walking exercises and water aerobics.  If there is someone in the group who has had revision surgery, please let me know if it was difficult for you to have it approved by your insurance company, did you do a distal versus a proximal and did you have any problems from having a second surgery.  Thank you very much for your help in my decision.

I am considering the LapBand and Dr. Eno*****ary is the physician I am considering.  I would like to come to a meeting.  Where do you meet and when.

Last year on Thanksgiving I was on liquid protein for pre op.  For Christmas I was on liquids for post op.

This year is my first challenge but I am not afraid, suprisingly.  I began a strategy early out of using recipes that people create or that I create to make my everyday meals as enjoyable as holiday meals.  With that in mind I find myself ready with recipes that are bariatric friendly and not unfriendly for most of the guests that I will be with.  Additionally I will prepare things that are not for me, but I have enought that I will be happy.

When I travel, no matter where I go I have an insulated bag that looks like my purse.  Inside it is stocked with emergency supplies (protein bars, protein cappucino, sf pudding, crystal light and extra vitamins, for example) just in case there is something there that I can't have.

Hi Barbra,

I loved what you had to say about the holidays and their challenges. I am almost 4 years post op and remember my last thanksgiving before surgery as being my "final blowout". I feel so blessed today to be able to say that holidays don't scare me anymore and I don't focus them around food. I also have my protein first and as we are vegetarians in my house I am not challenged with all the "bad foods" anymore. In fact I make a very healthy green bean casserole alone with a baritric recipe for pumpkin pie. That is the only sweet treat I give myself all year around.

I wish you a very happy thanksgiving and take care.

I'm glad that you went to the conference and learned so much. It's normal and even healthy to be a bit uncertain and uneasy about such a huge life change, not to mention one that includes a surgical intervention. That said, I have to tell you that it truly has been a blessing in my life and I hope that it will be one for you if you decide to move forward. Please do come and talk about your fears and concerns. Believe me, you are not the only one with the questions and you will find that others often echo the concerns that are posted as well others that will chime in with support and/or answers.

Which procedure(s) are you considering? Where are you in the process?

I look forward to getting to know you better as you make your journey.
