Here are few tips I use that help me:

-  Use smaller scale plates and bowls or plates and bowls that have a decorative edging that makes it appear that there is 'more' on the plate.

-  Wear a pedometer to motivate myself to MOVE.

-  Carry a water bottle to make sure I stay hydrated and don't confuse dehydration with hunger.

-  Take a few minutes each morning to think about why I want to maintain my new found good health, quality of life, and appearance so that I can focus decisions on food choices, exercise, etc. on choices that will support me.

-  When I'm eating out, I often check the nutritional information online before I head to the restaurant and go with a game plan

-  When I'm eating out if I don't want to draw attention to my smaller portions, I often will order a salad. I can eat a reasonable amount of salad without drawing attention to my smaller portions. I just make sure to start my salad with the protein I order to go with it.

Please feel free to share of the tips you use to help you on your own journey.

Topic: Taking stock and finding ways to support those things that are important

Life has been throwing me curve balls and hitting me in the head just a little too often lately. I feel like I keep falling down and each time I try to get up I slip and fall again. That's how I 'feel', but as I step back and look at it, I don't think that is the reality because even though things are very, very stressful I haven't gained a ton of weight and any other time I would have and I know that I could have.

I have decided that each day I need to look at one thing I apreciate about myself in each the following four categories;

- Health,
- Quality of Life,
- Appearance and
- Self.

Each day as I list the things that I appreciate about each of these areas of my life, the next thing I need to do is think about what I need to do to support those things I appreciate so that I won't lose them.

What areas of your life to you appreciate and what are you going to do to make sure that you can enjoy those things you appreciate about your life?

I started logging my food at mydailyplate.com and discovered I'm eating way too much!  When I did this a few months ago I wasn't eating enough.  The lesson for me is that I need to start logging consistently!

Jean,

Both things lead to making great decisions to take care of yourself. I've found that I take better care of myself now than I ever did before.

Wishing you continued success,

I've wondered about starting to do that. We'll have to dig out the bike and get it tuned up first, but it might be fun... It's been so long, I'm not sure I remember how though ;-)
