Hi Kat,

If you check my profile, you will see that I too have suffered from severe clinical depression for years. I know that my Dr's were concerned that I would have negative depressive episodes associated with my WLS, but I didn't find that to be the case at all. That's not to say that I don't still struggle, but my WLS journey has not negatively impacted me at all and I would say that in some ways it has helped.

I might suggest that you find some things to do now that you can take forward with you later. I don't know if you have interest things like scrapbooking... It's a great way to document and journal your journey. It's something you can do now, but carry forward as you take your walking tour of europe.

Wishing you all the best and continued success,

Hi Dona,

I'm delighted that you decided to share this... It's so important for us to recognize how much we have eaten just out of habit. Not only that, but for you to substitute something that could undermine your success with something that will support it is powerful. You're on your way to hitting a home run my friend. Keep up the good work.

By the way, I think it's great that you have so much support from your friends and family.

Wishing you continue success,

I think that it can be hard when we want others to notice and appreciate the work that we've gone to... no matter what the endeavor, but especially when it's something so personal. It's amazing, but I remember when I lost my first 40 lbs or so and people thought I'd cut my hair. Cut my hair! Now, if I lose or gain a few pounds, it's pretty noticeable. One difference, I guess, is the difference in the overall percentage of loss or gain now.

I think the fact that you took a step back and looked at all of what you have done for yourself is where the real kudos come. You have done a great deal for yourself and you appreciate it. In time, your friends may or may not recognize the differrences in your physical appearance, but you will... and you will really see it in the ways it impacts your health and quality of life.

Keep up the good work!

I love this post.  I was feeling a little blue today.  I met some friends today that I hadn't seen for quite a while and I thought they would be so excited at how I have changed.  They barely noticed.  Said my face looked a little thinner.  A little thing like that makes you lose sight of what you did this for.
Yes, I deserve credit and I should pat myself on the back.  I went to the pool and swam my laps and did exercise every day.  I continue to journal all of my food.  I tried a new recipe this week.  I took my vitamins every day.  Life is good. I'm doing well. I am happy.
Thank you for reminding me.

I was in Daytona beach this past weekend on LPGA business and we always stay at the Hilton Garden Inn when we are there. Each evening the hotel bakes the most amazing cookies and puts them out for us. When we got back from dinner, everyone went over and grabbed a cookie and so did I. When I got back to my room I realized what had happened. I had acted out of habit and not out of my reality. I looked at the cookie and honestly did not want it and knew the price I would pay would be far too high for a cookie, so I put it down on the desk and went down to the looby & purchased a Zone bar. 14grams of protein in that baby! I ate about 1/2 of the Zone Bar and without hesitation threw away the cookie.

For me this was an event worth celebrating. I was very proud of myself. Ishared the experience with my colleagues the next mroning and they all clapped  and gave me big hugs.

I've posted everything that's crossed my lips on my dailyplate.com account this week. My protein intake is right where it should be (between 85 and 95 grams daily). I'm drinking my water & decaf tea religiously. Sip, Sip, Sip. It worked so well in the beginning but for whatever reason I just started ignoring the glass sitting there and started only drinking when I felt thirsty. That doesn't get in 84 to 100 oz a day that way. Sipping every 10 minutes does though.

Since I'm logging my food, I went back to an old WW trick that always worked for me when I was counting points. I go ahead and log everything I plan on eating for the day. That way I can see if I need to tweak things just a bit. I realized that I wa****ting the carbs pretty heavy so I've changed my afternoon snack back to a CLICK espresso drink for my ride home. Keeps me from snacking/grazing/munching while I cook dinner.

So I deserve credit for taking control and making wiser decisions.

Thanks for posting this topic - YOU - my friend - Are the Greatest!!!!
