So many tips and tools.....first, my VSG is the best tool every! I log my food every day so I know what's going into my body. I'm not 100%, but very, very close. I weigh daily and don't get hung up on the scale, it goes up/down and I just keep making healthy choices. I'm on OH almost every day for support and experience, strenght & hope from others. I like to fine good substitutes, like my latest which is s/f cream popsicles. Yummy! I drink lots of water and take my vits pretty most of the time.
My biggest tip.....I quit drinking alcohol on 7/16 and went back to AA.
Today sobriety is good. Love to everyone! Vicky
Hi Dasie,
I learned a lot from it and continue do so... As a matter of a fact, I have a support group meeting I'm hosting tonight and it's based on the book. I think it's a great long term tool because it helps us look at ourselves, the excuses we make and provides some tools for learning to turn those excuses into positive action and support for our long term goals.
Good luck!

When I did Weigh****chers I used to write down everything but I haven't been doing that. I'm 7 months post op and I have continued to lose. In fact, I think I've lost too much because my face looks gaunt. I am trying to add more food but it is very difficult. My stomach doesn't want it or I have problems with what I'm eating. It isn't consistent, one day I can eat something and the next I can't. Crazy.
My doctor said that I would level off soon and I thought I had because I was fluctuating up 1-2 pounds and then losing them. Then all of a sudden I lost 2 more pounds.
I too worry about putting it all back on again so I try to be good in what I eat. I must admit I have cheated 3x in the past few months but I paid the price for it. I had dumping syndrome with eating some cake and ice cream. So it is a great discourager for cheating.
Hi Anna,
Like you, I was on OH everyday... multiple times a day and found the support invaluable. I still do, but there are times that I'm not on for a few days at a time now. That said, like you, I find getting and giving support a real benefit of this journey.

Hi Dasie,
You have really done a phenominal job and I wish you continued success as you continue this amazing journey. While you have come a long way, you are still early in this journey, so give yourself some time to recognize and manage your issues and concerns associated with foods. Everyone needs to address these things in their own way. I found that the Beck Diet Solution has been an invaluable tool that has allowed me to take a good hard look at why I did the things I did and/or am drawn to doing some them still. While I have long since finished the 'program', I often refer to it and use it as tool kit when I find that I need additional support.
I think that you will not only be successful losing the excess weight, but will also be able to keep it off in the long run and that's the real benefit to this journey.
Wishing you all the best,
Barbara

I have found that weighing in daily really helps me too; both with accountability and awareness. I think that those two things were probably the biggest things missing before. I know that I had ostrich syndrome where I would just whistle in the dark with my head in sand. I was like the three little monkeys before; Hear no evil, See no evil, Speak no evil, but in doing that I harmed myself greatly. Now, I really work on keeping my eyes wide open and getting on the scale daily is the lynch pin for me. I used to be nearly obsessive about logging, but I'm not so much so anymore. I do log, but it's more sporadic for me. The real positive about logging for me is the awareness I develop regarding the 'value' of what I'm eating, not just from a caloric perspective, but also from a nutritional perspective. It really does help me to think twice about the decisions I'm making when I'm considering what I am going to eat.
Thanks so much for your thoughtful response and participation. I look forward to getting to know you better as we continue our journies.
Warmly,
Barbara
