I used to drink Pro Complex protein drink prior to surgery every day and liked it.  I noticed that 19 days post op - it does't taste as great.  Has anyone else had this problem - changes in their likes?

Marybeth,

It is very common to have a change in taste after surgery.  You will find you now enjoy foods you did not like prior to surgery and as you already found out you do not like something you enjoyed prior to surgery.

Also you may find your pouch does not tolerate something you enjoy.  You will need to take it easy when trying a new food.

I personally became lactose intolerant and have a very low tolerance for sugars and flour.

I was told this before surgery so I guess it's coming true for me.  I seem to have troubles with eggs, in that I either eat them too fast and in up in pain or they just are settling well.  I'm going to wait awhile before I have them again.

Thanks for the advice - all is appreciated.

Sometimes our tastes change, especially as we go through ketosis during the first few weeks post op. Evenutally, the ketosis goes away and often our sense of taste returns. However, another thing that happens, is that after not eating highly processed foods for a while, we also tend to get to a point where we don't tolerate extreme sweets as well as we did before. All of that said, I have to say that now, nearly 3 yrs out, I think my tastes, in general, are about the same as they were before my surgery. I guess what I'm saying is that you may want to keep trying things and see if your taste changes again.
