4 days out and having all kinds of emotions

I am 4 days out from the RNY.  This has been tough.  I keep telling myself, just make it through the week and the pain will go away.  Then I tell myself, just make it 3 weeks and you can have some type of food.  Now this morning at 4 am I think I experienced my first "dumping".  I woke up and was thristy and drank some apple juice, then 15 minutes later was I was in the bathroom.  I'm not sure if it was dumping or the gas release after surgery.  I feel as if I don't get enough protein and fluids in me but when I drink something, I get nausiated.  Why did I do this?  It just feels like so much pressure.  Sorry to rant, I just feel so confused and out of control.  It was just easier to pick up something to eat.

The first days are tough...getting used to new eating and all.    Try to limit your intake of sugar...I drank powerade zero and crystal light   (still do) to keep hydrated without worryig about effects of sugar.     For me.....I was not in too big of a hurry to introduce  "normal" foods.  I was content to stick to my soft diet.

I am six weeks out of surgery...have lost 40 pounds and I feel better than I can remember feeling in a long time.     Hang in there.    You will get use to your new eating habits and trust me...once you see the weight start to come off........you won't miss eating  :-)    I know I didn't

Hi Im Dee and I found myself the same way but hang in and it will get better. My surgery was 4-20-9 and I still forget and go thru dumping but boy after I try real hard to remember.
I felt just like u and I couldnt vent I was in the hospital for 7 days with no pc. I wanted to no why I did it too, but u know what now I no why. 40 pds later it feels real good.  Your allowed to feel confused thats why we have friends on here to talk to. I still get confused its early but when I go in my closet and put something on that was too small it feels sooooo good.
Hang in there u will be ok. I'll keep u in my prayers.

Thanks for the support.  It helps knowing that others have been down the same road and made it.  Congratulations of the 40 lb loss so far...

I had my first 'meltdown' when I was about 10 days out and another when I was about a month or 6 weeks out. I couldn't believe I'd done this 'to' myself. Now, I'm so very glad that I've done this 'for' myself. I promise that this too shall pass. It won't always be like this. It does get better, much better. You'll have better days and sometimes, you'll have hard days, but it gets sooo much better. Just hang in there. Take it a day at a time. Sip, sip, sip constantly... This too will get better, but during the first few weeks and months staying hydrated and getting the protein in is nearly a full-time job.

My surgery was exactly one week ago! Almost to the hour. The first two days for me were real rough but I'm feeling pretty good, now. I drink Isopure No Carb Protein Drink. It doesn't taste bad, which is not to say that it taste great, but it does provide fluid and protein to help you through your recovery.  Drinking, along with walking, has been really helpful for me. It gives you something to worry about - you don't have to worry about what you can and can't do, instead you are worrying about how much and how often.

I hope this helps.
It helped me. In fact, I even returned to work this morning. How crazy is that?!?*
