Topic: RE: Im New! VSG scheduled 12/28/11
Welcome to the group Sara. Keep the nutrition visits. They really do help. I learned more about myself and my habits during logging my foods.
I am a little older than you(49), but age is just a matter of mind. I was almost 360 when I had surgery and I love that I finally made up my mind to have wls. I wish that I had been in the right frame of mind when I was your age. You have a lot of life to live.
I look forward to walking the journey by your side and reading of your thoughts along the way. Any questions or topic we can address? Try to attend monday evening chat sessions when you can, the immediate feedback helps. Hugs

Topic: RE: Throid Surgery
Congrats on your successful wls. You will make it through this next surgery. Yes, thrilled that you do not have cancer. I am here for you to lean on. Taking a daily pill, and the thyroid ones are small, is something that you can do. I take a thyroid med daily too.
We had the possible cancer scare here last week too. Hubby, Dennis needed to have prostate surgery. Got the pathology report back yesterday, benign!!!!!! Yayyyy, now just to recover from the surgery. Each day is getting better and better.

Welcome to the Loser's bench Travis. Give this recovery time. Things will improve. Take some deep breaths, sip, sip sip and get up every once in a while for short walks. Take your pain meds as needed, careful, the narcotics can cause constipation.
They pumped you full of IV fluids for surgery. I sequestered the fluids and thought I was never going to pee during the immediate days after surgery. I came home from the hospital 10# heavier than when I arrived for surgery. It took several days before the fluid shift started and I was losing weight.

Hi,
You can go to http://www.highpointregional.com/ourservices/gastric-bypass/ bariatric_procedure.asp
to read more about it. This is where I had my surgery done.
Good Luck!

Wow, that sounds like a little of both. Thanks for the info, I will have to look into this one!

I had the SGB...it doesn't remove the stomach it just stiches up a portion of my stomach and my new stomach is long sleeve. Then it's attached to the lower end of my small intestine.
I didn't have a gastrectomy, it's like a mini gastric bypass.

GiGi, I'm confused! I thought the sleeve was just removing 85% of the stomach. Are you talking about the duodenal switch?
