Hi,
Glad you came to BB. This is a great place to be for information and encouragement from those who have been there and done that. Sounds like you've thought it out very well over the past few years. I agree with you that this is time to do what's in your best interest. Fran is a wonderful lady to get to know. I count her as a true friend. I hope we will be a big help on you journey. Mag

Topic: RE: My first Post Op
Hi Becca,
I lost very little the first 2 weeks. I thought the surgeon would be unhappy about it but he was very encouraging about it. 2 weeks after that I was 19 pounds down. Don't worry. Like Kathy said, It will happened. This is not a sprint. It's a marathon. Pace yourself. Follow your doctor's plan. Mag

Topic: RE: My Band
Hi Jayhawk,
I did not have the band but wanted to say "hi." Kathy's information sounds like a well thought out response. Did you post on the forum for lap banders? They would be able to give you information too. Much success to you on your journey. Mag

Topic: RE: Repost - Emotional issues after wls
Kathy,
As you probably remember, I am bi-polar. At 3 to 4 months I was a wreck. I think all my meds were increased. Trying to find the right dosage was difficult, but we finally found the best amounts. When I told my surgeon he said "You should have expected that." It was not said nicely. He made me more depressed because the whole visit he talk as if he were mad at me. Finally with much support through those around me I got through it. BB was such a wonderful support during this time as well as others I met on forums. This is the best place to be to get over the emotional trauma most of us face. Hugs, Mag

it is normal to have these feelings. The uncertainty of whats to ome is enough to make u challenge your decision. Do what you can to get tons of info b/t now and ur surgery. Also do alot of soul searching. It this is more than nervousness, then I would let your surgeon know and possibly postpone for a little while.
Wishing you the best

Hey!
Im in the same boat. My close friends keep saying "You don't need that"... mind you they are mostly all thin. My family isn't even talking to me about it really. Almost like they don't care. My husband is ok with it but I can't really tell with him sometimes. I was getting upset like how come no one (besides my sister) is encouraging me to take this step? Why isn't anyone HAPPY for me that I am doing something (hopefully by February --- I switched surgeons) I wanted to do for a LONG LONG time! Then I said to myself WHO CARES!!!! I am doing this for me! I don't need their approval nor do I need their opinion and thats why I came here! I don't have to make anyone happy, that is HALF the reason I am where I am now. I put everyone first, EVEN THE DOG! But now its time for me! Let yourself feel that. Its time for YOU now.... do what you have to do make yourself Happy, if that means you come on here and vent then so be it. I would LOVE to be your buddy as I am very new to this. Like i Said my surgery wont be for atleast 2-3 months since Im switching surgeons.... but I also feel like I need someone in the same boat as me. Let me know if you want to be Buddies! It would be great!

Topic: Undecided.... scared away
So I went to a free seminar 2 weeks ago, had consultation with Surgeon last week and thorugh my insurance I pretty much was set to have the surgery (Gastric bypass) by about February. He was very FAST to push Gastric at me and our appt lasted a whole of 5 minutes. I didn't have many questions because I understand it but I really felt like a lab rat.... All i had to do was 1 nutrionist visit, psych eval, Labs (which i did), and sleep study. Long story short I work at the hospital where my surgery would be taken place and our neighboring unit, which I work on sometimes, is where I would stay for 24hr.... So i asked the nurses about this Doctor and ALL of their responses were DONT LET HIM TOUCH YOU. They all said he has a bad rep at the hospital (although I question why since he is still employed). Anyways after hearing this I was a little scare and now am going to a 2nd seminar with a different hospital and surgeon on 1/10. What would you guys do in this situation? I mean the 1st Surgeon does these surgeries weekly, but should I just go see the new surgeon? Im pretty scared now and really wanted to have the surgery at my hospital, but now I guess I wont be...

Good Evening,
I am a new member- Danielle :)
I was just approved for RNY with a surgery date of 12/29- Ive been wanting to do this for a few years and I went for it and got an immediate approval! After a long time of excitement and mental celebration and wishing for this day to come.. I am lacking support of my family and closest friends- I wanted this to be an amazing journey that I would share with my family and now..this exciting, hopeful, joyful feeling and happiness and certainty is gradually changing to uncertainty. Not really what I expected to feel 2 wks b4 the big day.
